Job Description
TEKsystems is working exclusively with Good Food Holdings to hire a BI Developer (Power BI) consultant! This is an exciting opportunity to be on the ground floor of the new parent company Good Food Holdings (Bristol Farms Lazy Acres Natural Market Metropolitan Market New Seasons Market and New Leaf Community Markets) as they embark on a new Enterprise Data Warehouse journey to consolidate and centralize Business Intelligence across the 5 retail banners.

The BI program is scaling quickly requiring a BI Developer to join the Good Food Holdings Information Technology team which is responsible for spearheading IT across the other retail banners. This person will work closely with the Business Intelligence and Enterprise Data Warehouse team in addition to key business executives and stakeholders at Bristol Farms/Lazy Acres.

The BI Developer will use their consulting technical skills business acumen and creativity to take the initiative to understand this clients data landscape project roadmap and create impactful reports dashboards userinterfaces and data visualizations with Power BI. Scope of work and level of responsibility will increase as business needs evolve.

Qualifications and Experience
5 years of experience of developing and implementing Power BI solutions including modelling design development and testing of data visualization
3 years of experience specifically in Power BI Cloud Services Data Analysis (DAX) Power Query (M) for ETL SQL (or other data extraction and integration tools)
3 years of experience writing SQL and shaping data with Power Query to optimize for performance in the BI presentation layer
Solid understanding of DAX with significant experience coding complex DAX expressions and performance optimization
Experience working in an Agile project delivery model
Ability to communicate clearly in conversation and in presentations to both technical and nontechnical staff and to provide updates to all levels of management and stakeholders
Develops strong internal partnerships and contributes to a positive and collaborative work environment. Builds trust and respect through dependability organization and follow through.
Experience with AWS Redshift AWS Workspace ERP and Oracle Finance nice to have
Power BI Paginated report experience nice to have
Microsoft Power BI certifications or AWS certifications are an asset
Prior industry experience in retail merchandising or grocery retail preferred

This is a 6 month contract to start with strong likelihood of extension or conversion. If converted the salary is $100k great benefits and grocery discount.

The GFH IT department has the opportunity to work across multiple different departments and they do not practice or believe in a siloed work environment. This candidate will be interacting with Merchandising Financing Accounting and Operations.

IT consists of 12 people and this person will be interacting with a subgroup of 23. They will also be interacting with a different point person for each department.
Team size: Agile team of 1 Product Manager 1 Data Product Owner (TEK) 4 ETL Developers (TEK) and 1 Power BI Dev (TEK).

MUST BE A SELFSTARTER! This is a midsized scrappy team and they cannot have someone who needs to be micromanaged. They need someone who can be independent and they also need someone who is able and willing to ask clarifying questions if they dont know the answer.

Drive Revenue Good Food Holdings has a very complex report for their sales format. They have several different databases all structured by certain percentages. One department makes up 50% and the others are all separate percentages. There are a few design challenges (ie: a few reports are calculating the last 13week Avg of the KPIs comparing Weekday to Weekday but the report shows the budget data as of the present day instead of the whole week etc)

They need someone who can help develop a less complex way of pulling and reporting data and be able to explain these reports to different business units.

Previously they were using Power BI Report Server now they are almost all on Power BI Cloud Service. This person could be working on various reports to do with Labor Inventory Payroll etc and expected to bring in the data from multiple SQL database tables prepare the data and visualize them according to the business requirements.
