In particular we are looking for a Research Scientist for our research team in Kigali working at the intersection of decisionmaking generative modeling and life sciences. We are building the next generation of generative AI technologies and your role will be to help us research the best ways we can ensure that these systems are safe and aligned to a more diverse collective of human preferences. As a Research Scientist you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of decisionmaking generative modeling and life sciences contributing to the development of nextgeneration AI technologies for personalized healthcare.
What does the job involve
- Work collaboratively within a team of researchers and engineers to advance our AI research agenda with support from senior researchers.
- Implement and develop novel algorithms and research ideas in generative modeling reinforcement learning AI safety computational biology and related fields.
- Stay informed about ongoing developments in machine learning methods for biology.
- Contribute to publication efforts by preparing and submitting scientific papers to top academic venues and workshops.
- Encourage and support good research practices as ideas are translated into projects.
- Design and implement algorithms optimized for modern hardware such as parallelization across GPUs/TPUs.
- Report and present experimental results and research findings clearly and efficiently both internally and externally.
Qualifications
- Experience leading teams in settings requiring complex problemsolving effective teamwork and skillful project management.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science Computational Biology Machine Learning or a related scientific field or equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive experience with sequencebased models such as large language models and reinforcement learning.
- Proficiency in developing and debugging in Python or similar languages.
- Experience using deep learning frameworks such as Jax PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
- Proven ability to contribute to research at the highest level by publishing scientific papers in top academic venues and/or workshops in domains related to Artificial Intelligence and/or Bioinformatics.
