    Who we are

    Light Bridges is a Spanish company created to promote research and developmentof new financing and execution processes by the private sector to achieve scientific and technologicalobjectives of the Astronomy community and in particular of the Instituto de Astrofsica de Canarias (IAC).

    In June 2024 the Metal Asteroids Research Fund was established under the fiscal sponsorship of TheMiami Foundation. This fund aims to raise funds to donate hours of observing time (DTO) on robotictelescopes located in the Canary Islands Spain for research carried out by the Space Institute of theUniversity of Central Florida.

    The first stage of the fund seeks to raise $450000 to directly contribute to the research titledThe Rotational Properties of Mtype Asteroids Exposed Cores of Planetesimals which aimsto identify metals in Jupiter Trojan asteroids.


    Purpose of the Position

    The Program Manager of the Metal Asteroids Research Fund will have two fundamental roles. Thefirst is to manage relationships with the funds donors; and the second is to be the counterpart of the fiscalsponsor The Miami Foundation.

    The Program Manager will bring a combination of skills in relationship building strategic thinking andeffective communication to advance the mission and objectives ensuring the delivery of impeccablecommunications and dealings in both lines of action.
    This position will report to the CEO of Light Bridges and the CEO of Rictel TTT (the company thatoperates the robotic telescopes).


    Key Responsibilities

    In terms of performance with donors he/she will have the following responsibilities:

    • Fund Management: Cultivate relationships with individual family foundation and corporatedonors to provide a high level of attention and relationship. Facilitate the donation process andmaintain personalized relationships to increase commitment and affinity with the fund.
    • Donor Relationship Management and Care: Carry out loyalty and accountability actionsconsidering the profile of individual donors family foundations and companies. Keep donorsinformed about the tax benefits of their donations.
    • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the organizations fundraising strategywith a focus on individual family foundation and corporate donations. Identify opportunities forlongterm partnerships and collaborations.
    • Database Management: Maintain accurate and uptodate records of interactions with potential donors: individuals family foundations and corporate partners. Use a movement management system to track opportunities and effectively follow up.
    • Research Identification and Approach of Potential Donors: Research identify cultivate andsolicit new individuals or entities from family foundations and corporations to serve as theirphilanthropic partners.

    In terms of responsibilities to the fiscal sponsor The Miami Foundation:

    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations: Be aware of the steps taken by The MiamiFoundation as fiscal sponsor especially in terms of donation taxes.
    • Maintain financial records: Maintain financial records provided by TMF and periodically reportto the board on progress on this topic.
    • Be the counterpart of the fiscal sponsor: Maintain fluid and regular communication with thefiscal sponsor so that both parties are constantly informed of the funds actions.Occasionally he/she will need to be available outside of regular office hours for donor and communityengagement events.

      Requirements and competences to work with us

      Specific

      • Interest in science: The potential impact of this fund is unprecedented. Understanding theimpact of the work that this fund will support and a passion for astronomical research is critical incarrying out relationships with donors maintaining their interest and generating futurecommitment.
      • Proactive and solutionoriented: Highly motivated actionoriented individual with strongorganizational skills especially in planning and coordination.
      • Strong project and time management skills: Ability to organize prioritize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
      • High ethical and professional standards: Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintainconfidentiality. Ability to relate to highprofile individuals with a high level of professionalismflexibility discretion judgment diplomacy and tact.

        Desired experience

        • A college degree and/or five years of experience in fundraising for nonprofit organizations donor relations wealth management and/or a field related to relationship management.
        • Practical knowledge of fund development planned giving and philanthropy and the ability to competently assist donors in formulating plans goals and/or strategies for their philanthropic donations.
        • Successful cultivation and care of corporate sponsors through a creative recognition strategy.
        • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Canva Asana email CRM databases project management platforms Internet research and/or other similar tools.
        • A portfolio of individual and corporate contacts that can help with the growth of the fund.

          • Salary: 2% commission on the total of the fund. Commission of 5% of the donations raised fromthe contact to the concretion of the donation by the same Program Manager. This applies to thefirst stage of the fund which seeks to raise $450000. For the second stage the personscontinued employment and commissions will be reevaluated.
