Job: Weld Engineer

Location: Spartanburg SC

Job Description

  • We are seeking a Weld Engineering Supervisor to design improve and install integrated systems for new product introductions in our manufacturing environment. This role will impact safety quality delivery cost and innovation. Responsibilities include supervising weld technicians specifying equipment developing weld parameters troubleshooting issues and identifying cost savings. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Weld Engineering or a related field extensive experience in the automotive support industry and strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of SPC CMM data resistance welding and robotics is required.

Primary Objectives

  • To Design improve and install integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing environment.
  • Directly impact all aspects of safety quality delivery cost and innovation.
  • To provide expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce products.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise Weld Technicians for PMs as well as support assignments.
  • Spec out welding equipment and tooling for new and existing product.
  • Attend runoffs for approving weld equipment and tooling.
  • Develop and establish weld parameters for new or existing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot welding problems and provide solutions accordingly.
  • Work to identify cost savings.
  • Communicate safe policies for job performance.
  • Schedule and attend necessary company meetings.
  • Work with other departments to solve problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Weld Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in weld assembly area of automotive support industry.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with quality and tooling related issues.
  • Knowledge of SPC and CMM data.
  • Tradesman certification based on experience.
  • Mechanical / Electronic studies or technical training.
  • Knowledge of resistance welding and robotics.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Computer skills.
