Job Title: Designer

Job Summary:
- Perform daily work activities with general supervision including computeraided drafting to prepare maps sketches schematics and other engineeringrelated drawings.
- The role also involves clerical tasks to manage and document work activities as per requirements.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
- Create revise and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.
- Support the creation revision and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents including construction equipment and property records.
- Obtain necessary information from verbal communication sketches marked drawings listings field notes vendor catalogs technical reference manuals and site visits.
- Perform mathematical calculations required for assigned work.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computeraided design software.
- Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Coordinate with other company organizations to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Read and incorporate information from vendor prints shop drawings and equipment operating instructions.
- Assist in training employees in basic position skills.
- Promote and support the companys Accident Prevention and Safety and Health programs.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior as outlined in corporate policies.
- Support Corporate Compliance policies.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Associate degree in applied science (AAS) drafting and computeraided design (CAD) or in civil electrical or mechanical engineering technology with one to two years of relevant experience.
- Alternatively a high school diploma with six years of experience in electric utility and/or related industrial drafting and/or computeraided drafting work.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available for overtime callout overtime and shift work for storm duty as required.
- Travel requirements: 25% of the time mainly within 45 minutes of Abilene with occasional travel outside this area for projects.
- Physical demand level: Sedentary.
- Must be familiar with conventional drafting symbols and methods and able to distinguish colors.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and possess and maintain a valid state drivers license.
- Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law
