Job Description

Reports to: Board of Trustees

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Work Schedule: Remote (Will attend relevant events and programs in various locations in Nigeria as may be necessary)


Compensation: Base pay is N.00 Annually net plus other interesting benefits.


About Company: Our client is on a mission to reduce the number of out of school children in Nigeria by working with over one hundred formerly out of school children across the country paying their school fees providing shoes books uniforms and meals. This work has been mostly sustained by individual donations. The company s ambitious goal is to increase the number of beneficiaries from 100 to 5000 within the next 5 years.


The client is seeking an innovative experienced brilliant and passionate individual who wants to help make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children across Nigeria to help them achieve their goals. One who believes that every child matters and should have access to education to be able to fulfil their potential regardless of their background.


Job Objective: The Chief Executive will provide leadership and has overall responsibility for the day to running of the charity working closely with the Board of Trustees and middle Leadership Team. S/he will be expected to build meaningful relationships with a wide range of people including employees volunteers ambassadors patrons school leaders partner organisations beneficiaries supporters donors funders and all stakeholders to ensure that the charity is able to continue to provide the best service to all beneficiaries who would otherwise be left on the streets with no access to education.


Key Responsibilities

Lead communicate and implement the vision mission and values of the charity

Deliver the strategic priorities agreed with the Board of Trustees and support the organisation to develop new strategic plans and priorities for future years.

Represent the charity in local regional and national forums as may be necessary for the development advancement and actualisation of the charity s vision and strategy.

Build meaningful and enduring relationships with key stakeholders in Nigeria and beyond to ensure the organisation achieves its priorities and maintains its position as a connected community focused and leading charity in the out of school children space.

Ensure efficient effective delivery of services the adoption of best practice and the implementation of effective systems for measuring the outcomes and impact of the various work done across all programmes.

Oversee programmes financial operational human resources IT and communication processes as the head of an effective and accountable leadership team.

Design implement and promote a culture of learning and development for staff and volunteers to enable them actualize their professional and personal development goals while providing the best service in the discharge of their duties.

Cultivate new partnerships with other charities/NGOs individual donors corporate donors and other organisations where there is an opportunity to attract funding to support the delivery of all programs and initiatives.

Manage relationships with current donors sponsors contractors commissioners etc.

Work with the charity s partners to improve and develop the range of support to potential beneficiaries based on research insight and evidence of need and gaps to ensure a wider reach and broader accessibility

Influence and shape the advocacy strategy by utilising data from services provided beneficiaries parents school leaders and other stakeholder / collaborators.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement to ensure excellent quality safe services efficient and costeffective delivery good systems and processes.

Promote and enhance the integration of volunteers in all aspects of the services provided.

Ensure and promote a culture of transparency within the organisation.

Be an advocate for the interests and wellbeing of outofschool children.

Seek ways to engage the government at all levels on reducing child illiteracy.



Requirements

Minimum of 10 years experience 5 of which must have been in a leadership role ideally as a chief executive or a director within the nonprofit sector.

Evidence of successful fundraising initiatives from diverse sources. Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels towards the achievement of set objectives.

Willingness to adopt and lead by example the core values of the organisation

Good understanding and interpretation of financial documents including budgets cash flow income statements balance statements and statements of functional expenses.

Knowledge of good governance and a deep understanding of relevant policies legal requirements and best practice in running a charity.

Evidence of success in promoting and implementing a consistent and fair approach to policies and practices in respect of employment and service delivery.

Demonstrable understanding of the needs of outofschool children.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to adapt communication style to an audience appropriately

Excellent IT skills Outlook Word and Excel
