Job Description: Senior Science Lab Assistant IB School

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus
• Prepare materials and supplies for science experiments and practical work
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of scientific equipment
• Assist students and teachers during experiments and investigations
• Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and procedures
• Manage inventory of chemicals specimens and other laboratory supplies
• Collect and organize experimental data for analysis
• Assist in the development of science education resources
• Support teachers in the design and execution of experiments and demonstrations
• Contribute to the maintenance of a clean safe and organized laboratory environment
• Assist with the coordination of internal and external sciencerelated events and activities
• Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments of laboratory facilities
• Train and supervise junior lab assistants and student interns
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated with best practices in science education and laboratory management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a sciencerelated field
• Prior experience working in a laboratory setting preferably in an educational institution
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and procedures
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with students teachers and other staff members
• Knowledge of data analysis and recordkeeping
• Experience in inventory management and procurement processes
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively
• Attention to detail and accuracy in performing scientific tasks
• Familiarity with IB curriculum and assessment practices (preferred)
• Certification in laboratory safety and first aid (preferred)
• Ability to adapt to changing educational technology and tools
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
