Job Description

Job Title: Programs Acceptance QC & Subtitler Based in Tanzania
Division: East & Southern Channels
Location: Tanzania
Contract: Until 31st March 2025
Reports to: Channel Head

About Us:
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading African media company that provides multichannel paytv services across 50 African countries. Our client is dedicated to showcasing local talent and delivering content that resonates with African audiences bringing social and economic benefits to the communities they serve.

Purpose of the Role:
The Programs Acceptance QC & Subtitler will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of content before it is broadcast or further processed. This role involves reviewing and validating media translating and generating subtitles between English and Kiswahili and maintaining high standards for content delivery and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Subtitle Generation:
o Translate and create subtitles between English and Kiswahili.
o Ensure language accuracy and cultural relevance specific to Tanzania and Kenya.

2. Traffic Administration:
o Manage the receipt and dispatch of licensed or commissioned content.
o Follow up on content availability and delivery with production houses and third parties.
o Coordinate quality control processes and meet delivery deadlines.

3. Program Acceptance:
o Review each media file in full.
o Identify and flag issues related to profanity sexuality substance use and other compliance concerns.
o Verify that content matches the provided synopsis.

4. Quality Control:
o Assess and ensure high technical quality for both video and audio.
o Check for HD quality correct aspect ratio clear audio and absence of noise.

5. Metadata Management:
o Capture and maintain metadata in the contract management system.
o Create and upload synopses and ensure appropriate age ratings are assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Media Studies Video Technology or a related field.
25 years of technical broadcasting experience.
Proficiency in subtitling software and workflows.
Experience in subtitle generation postediting and timing.
Native Kiswahili speaker with a deep understanding of Tanzanian and Kenyan language nuances.
Experience in content scheduling and programming.
Background in the broadcast or entertainment industry is a plus.

Technical Competencies:
Strong relationshipbuilding and communication skills.
Proficient in research project management and audience understanding.
Editing skills with Avid systems are advantageous.

Behavioral Competencies:
Analytical thinking and critical appraisal.
Excellent planning organizing and attention to detail.
Strong conflict resolution and persuasive abilities.
