Production Manager

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Production Manager to specifically manage our trials in maize seed replication. This role requires technical skills gained through direct experience in maize seed replication; no other experience will be accepted. The Production Manager shall be involved in travels to different locations. This role reports to the Site Manager.

What does the job involve

• Manage the design and implementation of maize seed replication ensuring adherence to technical specifications and protocols.
• Oversee the entire production process of maize seed replication from planting to harvesting ensuring efficiency and effectiveness at every stage.
• Set and monitor yield targets employing strategies to optimize production and meet or exceed set goals.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with seed suppliers ensuring timely procurement of necessary materials and resources.
• Take responsibility for managing all postharvest processes including cleaning drying and storage to maintain the quality and viability of the maize seed.
• Develop and implement comprehensive protocols for planting and replication ensuring strict adherence to standards and procedures.
• Work closely with the Site Manager to ensure seamless coordination and integration of production activities within the companys overall operations.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge in maize seed production and replication from start to finish.
• Must have 5 years experience in an agricultural related field.
• Must have a degree or diploma in an agricultural related field or equivalent.
• Knowledge on codes of practices / organizations the firm is accredited to such as Global GAP as well as farm management principles.
• Basics on personnel management farm engineering and accounting.
• Ability to lead a team and ensure productivity.
• Problem solving ability and keen to details.
• Confidentiality and integrity.
• Ability to deliver on set targets and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills both oral and written.
