Job Description

SPEECH PATHOLOGIST

ROLE:

As a Speech Pathologist you will play an integral role in assessing diagnosing and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. You will work closely with clients their families and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that enhance clients abilities to communicate effectively and improve their quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech language voice fluency and swallowing abilities using standardized tests clinical observations and interviews.
  • Diagnose communication and swallowing disorders based on assessment findings and clinical judgment.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results participant goals and evidencebased practice.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve speech language voice fluency and swallowing skills through a variety of techniques and modalities.
  • Educate participants and their families about communication and swallowing disorders treatment options and strategies for home practice.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals educators and community organizations to coordinate care and support client needs.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate documentation of assessment results treatment plans progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Advocate for participants needs and rights within the healthcare system and community.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and stay abreast of current research and best practices.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by Speech Pathology Australia and other relevant regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A masters degree in speech pathology or communication sciences and disorders from an accredited institution.
  • Registration or licensure with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Satisfactory criminal record and working with children check (or state equivalent).
  • Australian Drivers License and access to own vehicle.
  • Evidence of completion of the NDIS mandatory orientation module.
  • Police Clearance.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work independently prioritize tasks and adapt to changing environments.
  • Passion for serving diverse populations and advocating for clients needs.
