Health and Safety Manager

1. Occupational Health and Safety:

Develop implement and maintain comprehensive occupational health and safety policies procedures and programs in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards assess risks and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Provide guidance and training to employees on safe work practices emergency response protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  1. Investigate accidents incidents and safety occurrences using the methodology outlined in the SMM to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  2. Maintain accurate records of occupational injuries illnesses and safetyrelated incidents and prepare reports for management and regulatory authorities in accordance with ICAO standards.

4. Ramp Safety:

Collaborate with airline partners and ground handling agencies to develop and implement ramp safety protocols and procedures tailored to catering operations.

Conduct regular inspections of ramp areas to identify potential safety hazards such as equipment movement manual handling and slip trip and fall risks.

Coordinate safety training sessions for ramp personnel focusing on proper lifting techniques equipment operation and adherence to safety protocols.

Monitor ramp activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards and proactively address any safety concerns or noncompliance issues.

Participate in safety audits and inspections conducted by regulatory agencies and airline partners and take prompt corrective actions to address identified deficiencies.

Conduct OJT and OJE for new joiners and ramp operations staff and all necessary safety trainings from time to time

3. Emergency Preparedness and Response:

Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to effectively manage and mitigate potential safety incidents including fires chemical spills and medical emergencies.

Conduct regular drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of emergency response protocols and ensure readiness to respond to various scenarios.

Collaborate with relevant stakeholders such as local authorities and emergency services to coordinate emergency response efforts and facilitate timely assistance when needed.

4. Safety Training and Awareness:

Design and deliver safety training programs and workshops for employees at all levels of the organization with a focus on promoting awareness of safety hazards and best practices.

Utilize various training methodologies including classroom instruction handson demonstrations and online modules to cater to diverse learning needs and preferences.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety training initiatives through feedback mechanisms and performance assessments and make adjustments as necessary to enhance learning outcomes.

5. Safety Culture Promotion:

Champion a safetyfirst culture within the organization by fostering open communication trust and accountability among employees regarding safety matters.

Encourage active participation and engagement in safety initiatives through recognition programs incentives and regular communication channels.

Lead by example by demonstrating a strong commitment to safety principles and practices in all aspects of work and interactions with others.

6. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

Stay abreast of relevant regulatory requirements industry standards and emerging trends in occupational health and safety to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Prepare and submit regulatory reports permits and certifications as required by local authorities and regulatory agencies maintaining accurate records and documentation to support compliance efforts.

Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits coordinating responses and facilitating site visits to demonstrate compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Research environmental and regulatory changes and institute changes to remain compliant

7. Risk Management and Assessment:

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses across all operational areas to identify potential safety risks and prioritize mitigation strategies.

Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to develop and implement risk control measures including engineering controls administrative controls and personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize occupational hazards.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and safety metrics to track trends identify areas for improvement and drive proactive risk management initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science or a related field. Advanced certification (e.g. NEBOSH IOSH) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in occupational health and safety management with specific experience in the aviation or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety regulations standards and best practices with a focus on catering operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problemsolving skills able to identify safety risks and develop effective control measures.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing safety programs and initiatives including experience in conducting safety inspections investigations and training sessions.
  • Ability to work independently and maturely with a high level of accountability and integrity while also collaborating effectively with crossfunctional teams.
