Partner Staffing is currently working with our client seeking a Biophysical Project Manager based in Calgary or Edmonton.


The Biophysical Environmental Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing biophysical assessment projects overseeing environmental monitoring programs and providing strategic guidance on biophysical aspects of environmental management to clients in the oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage biophysical assessment projects including habitat assessments wetland delineations vegetation surveys and wildlife studies.

Design and implement environmental monitoring programs to assess the impact of industrial activities on natural ecosystems and wildlife populations.

Conduct fieldwork to collect data and samples analyze findings and prepare technical reports for clients and regulatory agencies.

Provide strategic guidance and expert advice to clients on biophysical aspects of environmental management including habitat conservation species at risk mitigation and biodiversity enhancement.

Stay abreast of relevant environmental regulations guidelines and best practices to ensure compliance and minimize environmental impacts.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental scientists engineers and regulatory specialists to develop integrated solutions for clients.

Build and maintain relationships with clients regulatory agencies and stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project delivery.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff members to support their professional development and ensure quality project outcomes.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or masters degree Biology

Member of the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists

Minimum of 5 years experience in environmental consulting or a related industry with a focus on biophysical assessments and environmental management.

Strong knowledge of Albertas environmental regulations guidelines and permitting processes.

Demonstrated expertise in conducting biophysical assessments habitat surveys and wildlife studies.

Proficiency in GIS software and other relevant technical tools for data analysis and mapping.

Excellent project management skills including the ability to plan organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and budget constraints.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites across Alberta including remote locations.

This is a remote position.

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) Fish identification Bird survey methodology and bird identification Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification Erosion and Sediment Control Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
