Our client specializes in planning designing and building environmentally controlled production and logistics facilities for the global food and pharmaceutical industries. The Design Coordinator is a multifaceted role within the Project Development team capable of supporting design activities while acting principally as the conduit between various stakeholders including the design team operations external consultants and the client throughout project design.
This is an inoffice (nonhybrid) position in Burlington Ontario.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Coordinate and schedule internal design and development team meetings including keeping meeting minutes to ensure project alignment and timely response.
Act as a liaison between the design team and other departments such as Sales/Marketing and Operations to ensure deliverables are met.
Review and distribute design documents and specifications to relevant team members and maintain a Design Action log.
Coordinate the continuous updating and improvement of a standard building details catalog for use by design estimating and project management departments.
Assist with the procurement of design materials and external consultants.
Coordinate the review and quality control of design outputs and shop drawing reviews ensuring all work meets or exceeds quality standards and client expectations.
Upload current drawings to Procore and archive project documents and designs upon completion maintaining an organized record of materials for future reference.
Augment design and CAD operations when project load requires it.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Be proficient in CAD BIM/Revit Bluebeam and Procore project management software.
Strong technical scheduling and organizational skills.
Ability to work within established policies and procedures at a steady even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bilingualism is an asset.
Act in a supportive collaborative approach with management and peers.
Education Experience and Other Requirements
Bachelor s degree or college diploma in Architecture Civil Engineering Interior Design or a related discipline.
5 years of relevant experience in design principles and processes within the Industrial Commercial Institutional (greenfield) construction industry.
Design experience in controlled environment building construction is an asset.
Planning experience with building permit submissions and municipal approvals processes is an asset.
Enhanced criminal background check required.
Passport will be required for occasional travel to the USA.
