Job Purpose Automotive technicians are cross-trained for the range of functions related to automobile service and repairs – mechanical, electronic, electrical, transmission and air-conditioning systems. Scope of work may relate to oil & air/fuel filter change, brake and clutch, steering, carburettor, wheel alignment, transmission, radiator, fluids etc. Job Description CERTIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIAN (Base level): • Able to demonstrate basic service/maintenance operations (e.g., oil change, tire service, filter…) on motor vehicles. • Able to identify and explain the basic service required in English (business language) while working on motor vehicles. • Able to identify the required tools to complete basic service/maintenance on motor vehicles. • Able to complete basic diagnostic work. • Able to complete a basic safety check to ensure vehicle is safe to be handed over to the customer. EXPERT TECHNICIAN (Mid-level) • Demonstrate the repairing and overhauling of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. • Able to identify and explain the repairing and overhauling of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components in English (business language) while working on motor vehicles. • Able to identify the required tools to repairing and overhauling of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. • Able to complete complex diagnostic works on all vehicle components. MASTER TECHNICIAN (Top Level) • Able to demonstrate advanced diagnostics based on manufacturers manuals/processes and tools. • Demonstrate effective communication skills when dealing with customers. • Able to identify and explain advance diagnostics in English (business language) while working on motor vehicles. • Is able to complete all tasks from base to master level on motor vehicles.
