Shuaiba Oxygen is a 50/50 joint venture established in Kuwait between Air Liquide Middle East and Kuwait Cryo in 2006. The joint venture is managed by Air Liquide and implements all industrial operational and safety management systems used by the Air Liquide group.

The company is among the few companies formed under The Kuwait Direct Investment Public Authority (KDIPA).

Shuaiba Oxygen owns and operates an air separation unit (ASU) that produces oxygen nitrogen argon and dry compressed air under a longterm agreement with Equate Petrochemical Co. a worldscale petrochemical complex. Shuaiba Oxygen plant has a capacity of 1500 tonnes/day of oxygen which is considered one of the largest plants in the Middle East.

In addition Shuaiba Oxygen is considered to be one of the largest private liquid argon producers in Gulf Cooperation Council. This gas is distributed throughout the Arabian Peninsula to meet the substantial needs of the steel and welding industries.

Shuaiba Oxygen is targeting the Large Industry sector in Kuwait and looking to grow through longterm supply contracts in the oil and gas petrochemicals and refining markets.




An Operations & Maintenance Engineer is a critical role in keeping a plant running smoothly. They are responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment ensuring everything functions as intended to meet production goals. Their expertise lies in instrumentation and control systems allowing them to diagnose and fix problems that may arise. This role also requires collaboration with other onsite staff regional specialists and central maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations. But most importantly they operate with a focus on safety adhering to protocols and procedures to keep themselves colleagues and the entire plant environment safe.
  • Responsible for site emergency management issues; ensures he/she is trained and qualified for proper implementation of the emergency response plan and plant security plan

  • Coordinates with contract and inhouse maintenance teams on the safe handover of equipment; performs proper isolation of the system energy control and isolation

  • Organize planned maintenance of equipment and systems as per job plans and suppliers manuals.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of equipment or systems not performing as expected.

  • Monitor predictive and other maintenance indicators.

  • Compile and record maintenance data and tests/inspections/calibrations results.

  • Perform security or safety reporting participate in root cause analysis of events.

  • Ensure that equipment is secured and isolated from the process when online maintenance is scheduled in coordination with control room electrical and mechanical maintenance technicians.

  • Assists the Facility Manager and the Maintenance team in the investigation of incidents and development of corrective actions and protocol

  • Communicates effectively with colleagues onsite the SIOC and Hub Experts in order to identify trends share data and disseminate information

  • Mentors and supports site colleagues with On Job Training tasks within domain of expertise

  • Coordinates with SIOC to optimize facility performance by focusing on the efficiency and reliability of production and processes; implements energy sourcing strategies

  • Follows SOP and participates in SOP writing and continuous improvement in order to ensure the plant and its network reaches their best operating point

Role requirement:

  • 5 yrs experience for degree and 8 yrs for diploma holders in maintenance & operations.
  • 1 year minimum DCS and Instrumentation expert experience
  • ASU Operation experience
