Job Description

Controller

Key Points on the role:

  • Private Manufacturing client highly profitable and in operation since 1887
  • Head office Niagara Falls Ontario (Hybrid 3 days in office. First 6 months whilst training expectation to be in the office 4/5 days per week)
  • Max base salary of $130000 per annum 10% bonus
  • Must have Manufacturing background (inventory distribution and warehousing may be equivalent dependant on experience)
  • Fast track promotion to Divisional Controller in under 2 years
  • Must be a relationship builder and great communicator. Daily interaction and communication with Operations and Sales teams.
  • Nice to have experience in Acquisition integration and M and amp;A
  • The Controller will have 2 Accounting Managers reporting into them
  • Total Accounting and Finance team across all of Canada is circa 90 people
  • Willing and able to travel across Ontario to meet with teams and Ops leaders at the different sites learning the business and forging relationships.
  • Owen Sound and amp; Hanover Must travel to these locations at least once per month
  • Windsor Barrie Orillia few times per year


We are seeking a Controller to join our dynamic client based at their Head Office location to support their Aggregates and amp; Construction Division. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial landscape of the organization and drive strategic decisionmaking at the highest levels.

Our client has grown to become a cornerstone of environmental sustainability energy solutions construction and materials management in both Canada and the United States since 1887.

You will report to the Director of Finance and are responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to senior management and other stakeholders. Youll analyze financial results and ensure that information is reported according to ASPE. Additionally youll provide financial support to the Senior Management Team and Divisional operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Youll be responsible for directing and reviewing monthly financial statements preparing consolidated reports and quarterly reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Youll also prepare review and analyze monthly financial statements according to Canadian accounting standards. Youll provide accurate financial information and variance analysis to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Youll oversee the maintenance of ledger accounts to ensure financial information integrity. Youll support the business unit by advising on accounting and finance matters and provide support to crossfunctional teams.
  • Youll coordinate annual budgets planning forecasting and prepare working paper files for audits and tax returns. Youll develop your team through coaching mentoring and setting objectives.
  • Lastly youll provide leadership and guidance to Finance staff and ensure effective controls within the ERP system are maintained.


Ideal Skills:

  • Bachelors and CPA Designated MUST HAVE
  • Up to 10 years of accounting and supervisory experience
  • Highly skilled in organizing and prioritizing tasks efficiently with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excel in problemsolving and financial analysis with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and management skills allows you to supervise others effectively.
  • Proficient in computer software and highly organized in workflow.
  • Takes initiative and can work independently while also being adaptable and proactive in meeting needs.
  • Communication skills are excellent and you always approach interactions with professionalism and discretion.
  • Effective communicator understanding has patience open door policy leader knows how to deal with people and personalities good personality no ego people person operationally and business minded
