Job Description

Overview:

The Commi Chef 1 plays a crucial role in the kitchen assisting in the preparation and production of various dishes. They work under the supervision of senior kitchen staff and contribute to the smooth operation of the culinary department ensuring highquality and consistent food preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation and cooking
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Follow recipes and prepare simple dishes
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with stock rotation and controlling food waste
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain a smooth workflow
  • Contribute to menu planning and development
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Assist in receiving and storing supplies
  • Adhere to proper food handling and hygiene standards
  • Execute tasks as assigned by the head chef or sous chef
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
  • Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
  • Adapt to new recipes and cooking techniques
  • Participate in training programs and workshops for skill enhancement

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Commis Chef or entrylevel position in a professional kitchen
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques and practices
  • Understanding of various cooking methods and procedures
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Basic understanding of inventory management
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
  • Flexibility to work in shifts including weekends and evenings
  • Physical endurance to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
  • Certification from a culinary institute or vocational training is a plus
  • Passion for cooking and willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
