Brentford FC Community Sports Trust

With community work spanning three decades Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate motivate and inspire people from all walks of life.

Working in partnership with Brentford FC the Trust offers a portfolio of programmes in education health sports participation and community engagement. The Trust has won the Football League Community Club of the Year award four times and now employs more than 100 members of staff. The Trust is forecasting further significant expansion over the next two years following its appointment as a key partner in the redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park as a sports hub and its move to new larger purposebuilt premises directly adjacent to the new Brentford FC 17500 capacity stadium near Kew Bridge in 2021.

The Youth and Employability Department

The Youth and Employability department provides informal learning and engagement opportunities for young people to build and develop essential life skills to support their transition to adulthood engagement in their local community and employability skills for the world of work.

We believe in highquality provision that makes a difference in young peoples lives; we offer a variety of personal social and educational opportunities for young people to engage in both group and 1:1 sessions. Our work includes residentials weekly groups short courses/projects PSHEstyle activities holiday programmes training opportunities volunteering & social action workready programmes and industry days.

We work closely with key stakeholders such as schools charities local authorities and national services to both gain access to young people as well as give young people different networks opportunities and experiences.

Our work is based on key youth work values; We seek to build effective relationships with young people based on mutual respect and valuing individuality. Our provision is inclusive and nonjudgemental with the aims to get young people to express themselves develop their skills and attitudes and empower them to make positive decisions and choices for their future. Purpose of the role


The Youth Engagement Facilitator will worker across our programmes leading and supporting in in recruitment events and promotional activities and facilitating personal development and skill based workshops. The NCS Youth Engagement Facilitator will work with the Manager and Coordinators to deliver schoolbased activities events and youth group sessions.

The NCS Youth Engagement Facilitator will need to be able to build strong relationships with young people and deliver innovative and creative sessions. They will provide engaging activities deliver inclusive curriculum sessions on life skills and employability topics and support young people in campaigning volunteering and developing social action projects

The role is suitable for a dynamic and confident person with experience of leading groups of young people being able to motivate support and guide them as they take part in our programmes.


Main Responsibilities

    Deliver presentations and other agreed recruitment events (e.g. assemblies PSHE lessons lunchtime/event stands) to secondary schools nonmainstream schools colleges and other allocated organisations

    Support delivery of Youth Group sessions. Support young people to engage develop new skills and be active in the local community.

    Deliver and facilitate bespoke personal and skill development sessions within allocated schools for year 10 13.

    Lead inspire and motivate young people through the Programmes and activities. Ensure that the pastoral care and safety needs of the young people are met at all times.

    Engage and build positive relationships with young people to provide effective support on a onetoone & group basis using coaching and mentoring techniques when needed.

    Encourage the development of teamwork leadership social development and community social action skills. Support young people to reflect on their own experience and share this with others.

    Plan adapt and deliver assigned curriculum sessions which include reflective learning facilitating workshops and youthled sessions. Ensure all activities and sessions are adaptable to include and meet the needs of all young people.

    Support young people with challenging behaviour and ensure the code of conduct is upheld.

    Ensure all policies and procedures and administration tasks are completed accurately and within allocated time scales including handling personal data safeguarding reporting and risk assessments

    Work closely with the team wider Brentford FC CST team schools and delivery partners to support the young people on our programmes.

    Work with other Trust staff and departments to deliver engaging and fulfilling activities for young people.

    Attend regular supervision sessions and compulsory training to enable all duties to be carried out effectively

    Support youth volunteers young leaders and assistant youth workers to work positively with young people and follow Trust policies and procedures.

    Work closely with the Manager Coordinators Youth Workers Coaches and community partners to support the young people on sessions.

    Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the Senior Manager

    Work flexible hours including regular evenings and weekends when require.

    Person Specification

    Essential:

    Qualifications and experience

    Demonstrable experience (either in a voluntary or paid capacity) of working with young people (particularly 1517year olds) and an understanding of the current challenges they face.

    Experience of leading planning and delivering inspiring motivating and engaging activities for individuals and groups of young people in a community education/ and or outdoor setting.

    A Safeguarding and First Aid qualification or willingness to complete training.Skills Knowledge and ability

      A willingness to regularly travel within the allocated work areas.

      A willingness to work flexible hours as this role will involve some weekend and evening commitments.

        Desirable

        Professional qualifications directly related to working with young people and children in a formal or nonformal setting

        Experience of working in partnership with youth or diverse community organisations.

        Ability to adapt curriculum sessions to support young people with additional support needs.

        An awareness of social action campaigning and local charity organisations

        A full driving license and access to own car.

        Good knowledge of the local area and demographics (Hounslow Ealing and neighbouring boroughs)
