Lead Database Administrator

This is a remote position.

SUMMARY

The Tech Lead Database Administrator is directly responsible for the integrity and security of data for our clients. Ensuring databases are running at their peak performance allows our clients to have the most up todate information when they need it where they need it to make the most accurate decisions possible. Communicating with the client when there is an issue is the highest priority so the client knows when their data might not be at its best. Your ability to work closely with the team will allow us to keep each other on the same page and to motivate each other to continue to improve. The ability to work without supervision will ensure we maintain our highquality service to the clients while allowing the team their turn to train and improve the team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting to the Associate Director of Database
  
• Addressing automated alerts failures incidents and client requests as they come in
  
• Communicate clearly and efficiently to clients
  
• Document and detail the work performed in tasks
  
• Actively work to improve the service by automation and identifying ways to improve our processes
  
• Support your teammates in achieving team goals
  
• Consistently work to improve your knowledge of Data technologies
  
• Experience handling a team of DBAs supporting different technologies (SQL Server MySQL PostgreSQL MongoDB Sybase Azure AWS)
  
• Expert understanding of Database Internals
  
• Expert in Installing Configuring patching and migrating Microsoft SQL Server instances MySQL PostgreSQL MongoDB.
  
• Handson experience with Azure and AWS database technologies
  
• Expertise in designing implementing troubleshooting and fixing all available HA/DR topologies in SQL Server including Log shipping Replication AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering.
  
• Handson experience with HA/DR topologies for MySQL PostgreSQL Sybase MongoDB
  
• Facilitate brainstorming meetings with clients to review analyze and assess business systems and needs
  
• Expert in handling database backup and recovery database access security and integrity physical data storage design and data storage administration.
  
• Expert in Database security and auditing.
  
• Create change and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plans
  
• Expert in monitoring SQL Server maintenance tasks troubleshoot failed processes and address issues as soon as possible.
  
• Handson experience writing and optimizing TSQL
  
• Expert in handling databases which participate in both replication and always on together.
  
• Expert in creating reports monitoring and alerts to better support our clients
  
• Expert in troubleshooting and resolving server DB and query performance issues application sluggishness.
  
• Expert in understanding and fixing antibest practices in DB design.
  
• Expert in handling VLDBs
  
• Expert in Database Partitioning Data Compression
  
• Expert in implementing Resource Governor
  
• Expert in implementing troubleshooting and fixing CDC
  
• Expert in implementing troubleshooting and fixing Distributed Availability Groups
  

• 10 years of MS SQL Server experience
  
• Good to have PostgreSQL MongoDB Azure SQL DB AWS RDS administration experience
  
• Experience working as oncall support for the team members.
  
• Extensive experience in designing implementing troubleshooting and fixing various HA/DR topologies with special focus on Transactional Replication and Alwayson Availability groups.
  
• Extensive experience in handling server DB and query performance issues.
  
• Handson experience writing and optimizing TSQL
  
• Related formal database education or DBA certification
  
• Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  
• Strong understanding of database platforms in an enterprise infrastructure with the ability to utilize database administration tools
  
• Industry certifications (MCSA MCSE DP300)
  
• Ability to meet stringent deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  
• Familiar with Change Management and ITIL processes. ITIL certification is preferred
  
• Ability to provide timely and informative followup to endusers.
  
• Ability to prioritize efficiently and organize competing work demands with little oversight

• Should be amenable to a 24/7 shifting and on call schedule.
