Global Access

Enabling global access to medicine for patients across the world can be challenging for many pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

Many are unable to commercialize due to lack of footprint and regional knowledge in a particular territory or experience in a particular therapy area. Many have to delay or postpone making their medicine available in some countries, or even not at all. Some companies experience unexpected disruption in the supply chain or have to withdraw from markets. Within Global Access we are equipped to support our pharmaceutical clients develop and execute an access strategy that ensures optimal access to medicines for patients in both licensed and unlicensed markets.

The role

Reporting into the Managing Director, Product Access Division, and a key member of the PAD Leadership Team, the role of the Global Access Director is focused on building and leading our Global Access business. Working with the cross-functional teams across both the division and the broader Uniphar Group to develop the go-to-market strategy and build our service offering to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry looking to make their medications available to HCPs and Patients in markets that they are not equipped to do so, or commercially consider non-core.

As a Global Access Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the strategy and vision for Global Access, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives and customer needs.
  • Delivery of the global P&L for Global Access.
  • Managing and growing a team of and Specialists, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key, internationally located, stakeholders, both internally and externally, such as pharmaceutical companies, regulatory authorities, distributors, and healthcare providers.
  • Overseeing the delivery of high-quality Global Access projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, expanding the Global Access portfolio, and increasing revenue and profitability.
  • Leading the business development activities for Global Access, targeting, and securing business with new pharmaceutical clients, as well as maintaining and enhancing existing client relationships.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance and impact of Global Access, using data-driven insights and feedback to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in pharmacy, life sciences, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on product commercialization, market access, or product development.
  • At least 5 years of experience across international markets outside of Europe managing either partners or products.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse and cross-functional team.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including experience in managing P&Ls.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Willingness to travel, often extensively
  • A passion for improving access to medicines and healthcare for underserved populations around the world.
