Job Description

The Role:

The Financial Accountant, reporting to the Finance Manager within the Product Access division, will have the autonomy to run end-to-end finance function supporting the commercial success of the business unit. They will be a commercially focused partner to the business supporting the day-to-day operations. The core objective is to provide timely, accurate & commercially orientated business information to enable the maximisation of business opportunities while ensuring that the internal controls of the company are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly financial & management accounts in line with Group reporting deadlines, ensuring accuracy & compliance with regulatory reporting accounting standards.

  • Assisting in the production and further development of reporting on business performance to Senior Management.

  • Provision of financial support to the Commercial Team on existing & new initiatives and projects

  • Uploading of financial data to group consolidation tool - currently BPC.

  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and reforecasts for the business in conjunction with the Finance Manager/Client Operations teams, in line with Group timetable

  • Management of small finance team responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable within the the business unit/entity. Including where relevant the overseeing of adding invoices to customer portals to ensure timely payment receipt.

  • Oversee working capital and operating cash flow in conjunction with Commercial Management & Group treasury.

  • Overseeing the preparation and improvement of client reports in line with reporting deadlines.

  • Liaise Group & Intercompany accountants as necessary.

  • Liaise with internal and external auditors.

  • Ongoing review and assessment of controls and working with process improvement team to implement or enhance internal controls - ensuring the business unit is aligned at all times to support the growth of the business.

  • Ensuring that balance sheet reconciliations are prepared to audit standard on a monthly basis.

  • Participate in regular team and group meetings.

  • Be flexible in this role to support the finance & commercial function of the Uniphar Group as instructed by your manager.

Candidate Requirements :

  • Commercially minded qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA) with experience working with multi-functional disciplines including non-financial managers.

  • Strong ability to apply critical strategic thinking to resolve problems.

  • Self-motivated individual with ambition to be a high achiever within the organisation.

  • Good Commercial Acumen with a focus on optimisation of profits.

  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills focusing on urgent and overlapping deadlines, strong organisational skills, attention to detail and proven accuracy with record keeping.

  • A proven track record of delivering high quality customer support.

  • Ability to work effectively under time and delivery pressures

  • Ability to influence without authority cross-functionally within the business

  • Experience in the implementation of best-in-class Financial Controls and Procedures

  • Show resilience, be flexible and adaptable.

  • Professional level written and oral communication.

  • Knowledge & experience with software including word processing, spreadsheets & statistical analysis.

  • Previous experience of SAP preferred

  • Very strong communication skills to deal with staff at all levels and with external stakeholders (clients)

  • Excellent Analytical Skills (numerical and written) with strong planning and organising skills

  • Decision making skills, ability to develop innovative and workable solutions to real business situations and ability to work on own initiative to follow projects through to a successful conclusion.

  • Target driven individual focussed on meeting tight deadlines and ability to work under pressure and absorb and deliver on ad-hoc requirements within short timeframes

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Leadership and Interpersonal skills and the ability to work at all levels in a large organisation, inside and outside of the finance function

As we are a global team, there is flexibility to be based in one of Uniphar's offices or work from home. There may be a need for face to face meetings in other locations, as needed. There may also some flexibility required in order to interact with colleagues or clients in their time zones (i.e. it's not a '9 to 5' type of job).
