Minimum Qualifications: Valid teaching credential for the appropriate grade level.
Immediate Supervisor:Building principal or such person as shall be delegated.
Hours and Days of Work:Days of work as per contract. Hours of work as per District Board Policy #5042.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches assigned classes in areas in which the teacher is properly prepared and credentialed utilizing courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Provides planned learning experiences that facilitate pupil attainment of the educational goals and objectives of the district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Encourages pupils to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records prepares progress reports and communicate with parents on the individual pupils progress.
- Is responsible for the supervision of pupils and assigned paraprofessionals.
- Maintains classroom control sufficient to permit other students to learn without undue interference to provide for the safety of others and to protect school property.
- Uses appropriate available instructional materials and equipment.
- Shows concern for a physical environment that will facilitate learning opportunities.
- Seeks good studentteacher and studentstudent interaction. Is responsible for determining a students functional level in skills such as reading arithmetic and language arts and for moving the student along as fast as ability permits. Materials and teaching methods should be geared to individual capability.
- Establishes standards of expected student progress and evaluates the students continuously to determine if they are progressing. Each teacher must have certain educational objectives agreed upon between the teacher and supervisor. Pre and posttesting and frequent and various types of evaluation during the school year should be used to measure whether a student is reaching these educational objectives in mind when teaching takes place.
- Seeks rapport and positive interaction with parents and other adults in the community.
- Participates in the evaluation and assessment activities required by the district.
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assisting and helping students solve health attitude citizenship and learning problems.
- Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
- Attends required inservice and faculty meetings unless excused by the supervisor.
- Advises cooperates or participates where possible in major decisions involving budgeting staffing curriculum and discipline.
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned after consultation between Classroom Teacher and Principal.
