Responsibilities • Candidate must be fluent in Dari, Pashto, and English. • Provide translation support to COS Officers and Program leadership during all Program activities. • Use language skills and personal experience in Afghanistan and the U.S. to assure the Afghan Guest population and calm them as to their future in the U.S. • Proactively engage Afghan Guest population to ascertain their concerns and issues so that problems are immediately addressed and solved. • Translate Responsible to engage with other team members including the Community Order Support (COS) Officers and Afghan Guest Community, conduct surveys, and work with interagency groups such as IOM on how to better provide safety and security functions for the community. • Assimilate information from surveys and prepare presentations. • Present during intake processing to support processing of arriving personnel. • Additional duties include providing mobile, roving, and static unarmed community order. • Support services • Duties include participating in roving (foot), mobile (vehicle), and static patrols. • Role includes providing first response; recording incidents; and providing specialized unarmed community order support (COS) services and unarmed protection/safety services. • Perform static, dismounted (foot), and mounted (vehicle) community order patrols to maintain order, protect personnel and resources, and respond to calls for service. • Assimilate into Afghan Guest Community to better understand concerns that can then be addressed proactively. Qualifications Education / Certifications: One-year related experience substitutes for one year of • High School Diploma as a minimum. Experience: • Candidate must be fluent in Dari, Pashto, and English. • Minimum 3 years’ security or law enforcement/military experience. • Experience working on U.S. Government contracts preferred. • Experience working with International Organization for • Migration (IOM) or other humanitarian assistance organizations preferred. • Skills & Technology Used: • Excellent computer, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required in the English, Dari, and Pashto languages, absolutely required. • Empathy towards the Afghan Guest population, their dire situation, and the fact that they are moving permanently to a country they have never been, with a language they do not speak, and with the clothes on their backs and in their luggage. • Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
