Job Description

Joining as a Senior Tax Associate you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Engage in diverse tax consulting projects including corporate reorganizations estate freezes and estate litigation
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on complex tax topics
  • Develop tax models to visually demonstrate potential tax savings from proposed plans
  • Prepare and review tax compliance documents and election forms related to tax planning
  • Review legal documents for tax implications in proposed reorganizations
  • Handle specialized forms such as Voluntary Disclosure Program applications and clearance certificate requests
  • Provide training and support to the compliance department on taxrelated matters
  • Communicate research findings professionally through verbal or written means
  • Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial ministries to address client issues
  • Contribute to the creation of biweekly tax articles for internal and external use
  • Record daily timesheets and expenses using CCH
  • Meet billable target hours
  • Collaborate with other departments to address clients various professional service needs
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned


  • Requirements

    • Hold a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation.
    • Either completed or in the final stages of completing the CPA Canada InDepth Tax Course.
    • Accumulated 35 years of experience in public accounting practice specializing in tax.
    • Proficient in preparing and reviewing personal corporate and trust returns as well as in estate tax planning corporate reorganizations and dispute resolution.
    • Possess analytical skills for interpreting the Income Tax Act and case law.
    • Strong technical background in Canadian income tax including experience in tax research and memo writing.
    • Demonstrated comprehension of increasingly complex tax concepts with the ability to apply tax knowledge effectively to client situations.
    • Proficient in using CCH (Tax Prep) CaseWare MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
    • Exhibit excellence in both oral and written communication skills.
    • Highly responsive to client needs with the ability to cultivate and sustain effective client relationships.
    • Proven capabilities in project management and organizational skills.
    • Maintain a high level of organization and meet tight deadlines effectively.
