This is definitely a personality hire in addition to having the basic skills to do the job. MUST be mature and empathetic and ideally have a connection or passion for this specialty. Some candidates have not worked out because the patient population is overwhelming to them. Day to day responsibilities Answering phones & directing calls Scheduling appointments Entering patient demographic info Taking co-pays Insurance authorizations Referral information. A lot of phone work. Only doctor who does this between Mayo Clinic and Seattle so people are coming from a long way away to see them. Lots of out of state referrals Must haves Ability to learn new computer programs. Tech savvy. Prior scheduling experience These are trauma providers, so need to think about what happens next. Being able to see ahead and know if this procedure is happening today, that means we'll need a follow up in 2 weeks for example. Nice to haves EPIC is nice to have Maturity and empathetic. Able to read patients and handle with care. Big team lots of providers and being able to work well with lots of different personalities.
