DCS is looking for a Risk Manager to help establish and support the risk management process at an Army Project Manager located on Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.
Essential Job Functions:
The Risk Management Specialist/Expert will actively participate on multiple integrated product teams (IPT), providing risk management subject matter expertise needed to fulfill the critical planning and execution requirements that contribute to program success. The role will assist the IPTs with the risk planning, development/refinement, initiation, and execution for new requirements, projects, procedures, and guidelines. The Risk Management Specialist/Expert will also facilitate milestone planning by preparing, reviewing, and updating technical briefing materials, documentation, and program schedules relevant to risk management. Additionally, the Risk Management Specialist/Expert will assist in identifying, assessing, developing, and mitigating program risk and will brief leadership on the status of program risks and recurring risk reports.
Expected Duties:
Author risk management SOPs and monitor program activities for consistency with the approved SOPs.
Clearly communicate risk as it relates to programmatic issues, concerns, and opportunities.
Manage the risk management system, coordinating user permissions within the project offices, providing training on an as needed basis, and working with the Government's application manager to provide new user access and resolve functionality issues with the tool.
Prepare and staff formal risk reports containing analyses and recommendations to leadership as required.
Provide IPT training as needed on risk management processes and procedures.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience.
DoD secret clearance is required.
The Risk Management Specialist/Expert must know the Department of Defense Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management Guide for Defense Acquisition Programs (DoD RIO Management Guide) and be able to build a process starting at a working level with PM PNR product shops, move up to the IPT level at the O6 staff, then the board level for the COL himself. Additionally the role will engage with BMD on cost, IMS for schedule, and all SMEs for performance.
