Engineer II, Sustaining Engineering (Electrical)

Summary

This Engineering position is responsible for engineering design, problem resolution and other engineering duties in support of the design and manufacturing of parts and This person will have direct influence at the part level to optimize the piece parts and This position reports to the Engineering Supervisor but may also get direction/guidance from senior This is a direct, full-time

Position mission

The mission of the Sustaining Engineering team is to develop new option content, cost & performance improvements to the current product, and drive resolution of technical Supply Chain, Production, and Field issues

Emphasis on providing robust, service-friendly, and cost-conscious electrical designs for vehicle low voltage (12/24VDC) and high-voltage (600VDC, 240/480VAC) systems

Experienced troubleshooting capabilities that efficiently drive to root cause and ability to identify & implement permanent corrective actions

Familiarity with vehicle and/or industrial control systems

Roles / Responsibilities

  • Communicates component level design/ideas to internal/external
  • Evaluates customer product requirements and develops product designs to meet customer
  • Interpret customer requirements, and map requirements onto existing designs when possible, and/or develop new designs when
  • Optimize design via analytical, numerical and/or empirical
  • Ensure thermal and electrical model analysis are accurate as well as product requirements are
  • Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality, delivery, and performance on specialized knowledge of engineering applications together with possible involvement of other functional engineers and/or customer/supplier
  • Direct CAD Designers to complete 3D models and drawings as
  • Release drawings accordingly to support production cost estimation and prototype
  • Review CAD models and drawings of component to ensure their
  • Use CAD modeling software to create components, assemblies, and engineering drawings for
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM along with all project
  • Design and document solutions, within the scope of concepts for components and modules, taking project guidelines (, safety, quality, cost, weights and dates) into
  • Detailed electrical design including design for manufacture and
  • Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for problems as well as
  • Support production ramp & ongoing/continuous product/process
  • Preform and coordinate laboratory testing of prototypes for component
  • Work with the test engineer(s) to create DVP&R, execute the defined test plan and review the test
  • Conduct field testing and provide preliminary
  • Develop and maintain the technical specification for desired performance at the component
  • Ability to prioritize assigned tasks to maintain
  • Works independently on assigned component tasks with some guidance required from senior engineers on sub system level
  • Works productively with other engineers, designers, technicians, sales representatives, installers, and project managers so the project is delivered on schedule and on
  • Support purchasing, fields service and other internal customers as
  • Lead or support prototype order and
  • Operate in a team environment and provide input to design solution during the design development
  • Applies industry practices and standards (NFPA, NEC, APTA, ) at the direction of the senior
  • Area of expertise at the component
  • Model and drawing documentation are the accurate and
  • Exhibits insight on electrical design sense to develop and meet design requirements with product designs that are manufacture, serviceable, meet all performance objectives and meet customer

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process and

Electrical Engineer:

  • Application of sound electrical design
  • Working knowledge in electrical power distribution including AC and DC
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical load calculation and circuit
  • Experienced with high voltage system design and necessary safety
  • Experienced with low voltage harness
  • Experienced in generating harnesses and electrical schematic using CAD
  • Familiarity with automotive components such as circuit breakers, relays, and wiring,
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards such as SAE, NFPA, FMVSS,
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot automotive electrical
About the environment
  • Ability to lift 25
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk and occasionally kneel or
  • Limited travel may be
  • Typical start time is 6:00am (negotiable).
