Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate strong competency in the criteria listed in this job description. Strong customer service, written/verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Computer literate - especially in Microsoft Word and Excel. The ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Requires ability to exercise independent judgement to accomplish goals and manage time efficiently as an independent worker. The ability to multi-task is an essential skill for this position. Must be able to work independently and fulfill release of information requests as appropriate.
Skills:
Requires strong organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and excellent customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, referral sources, etc. Possess strong critical thinking skills. Be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
High school education or equivalent. Minimum of one-year in Health Information Services in a healthcare facility, behavioral health experience preferred; experience in the interpretation and application of chart completion guidelines; experience working 1:1 with physicians and other healthcare providers. Strong understanding of HIPAA.
