Job Description

Position Bid Manager
Duty Station Nairobi
Reporting to Technical Director

Role Purpose
Responsible for identifying business opportunities, support the financial business case initiatives to meet company objectives with minimal risk through management of the entire bid process and commercial activities.

The role oversees all bid quality, bid technical responses, and bid commercial aspects in accordance with company procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Identifying opportunities for bid submissions and raising them with the bid management team.
Develop opportunities into RFQ s or tenders and seeking bid responses support as required.
Develop and implement strategies for winning bids and crafting persuasive and detailed proposals.
Identify appropriate stakeholders with whom to form partnerships with and to provide support in developing RFQ and tender responses.
Oversee and lead bid teams in the planning and delivery of RFQ and bid submissions in line with agreed strategies.
Determine pricing and financial information based on internal and external costing.
Assign duties to the team members and follow-up on their progress
Attend pre-bid meetings as per customer s invitation to qualify the opportunities.
Facilitate the resolution of customer bid queries through relevant stakeholders.
Conducting research and brainstorming key points to include in the bid.
Report accurate, relevant, and timely information on solutions and bid progress tracking.
Reporting progress of all bids from initial stage to submission and post submission stages
Conducting team briefings once bids have been secured.
Liaising with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors during bis submissions
Produce post bid reviews and handover notes to Implementation team.
For complex bids, support the operational teams in the transition period of new contracts when or as required.
Ensure sign-off for any significant post-submission amendments by an authorised person.
Ensure adjudication meetings are arranged and appropriate sign-off is achieved.
Any other duties as assigned by the line manager


Requirements


Education, Experience & Professional Knowledge
Relevant degree in Business or related field.
Diploma in procurement management will be an added advantage.
5-7 years experience in commercial management.
Experience in pricing of Information Technology solutions.
Experience of managing teams in researching marketplace, understanding clients business strategy, marketing, and bidding.
Experience as a bid writer.
Excellent industry knowledge and a willingness to keep up with trends.

Required Skills & Competencies:
Competent in sales cycle and procurement laws.
Understanding of commercial aspects of bidding including risk management.
Management skills across various disciplines i.e., Sales and marketing, Finance and Technology.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Documentation and communication skills.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrate business and process management skills.
Results oriented by meeting deadlines and committed to excellence.
