Job Description

FULL STACK JAVA DEVELOPER - BASE SALARY UP TO 135K plus BONUS (cash) PLUS 3% 401K match and an additional 6% annual 401K employer contribution.

Hybrid but you must live in a commutable distance to Des Moines, Iowa.

We are looking for mid to senior level Java experience. Their developers work on web applications for a business that really appreciates their efforts! Strong coding/debugging skills used primarily in business applications. Ability and desire to continue to learn business rules for applications development and expansion. Ability to write program documentation and descriptions for users to comprehend usage of applications. This client develops their own applications (no packaged solutions). You'll have great teammates who are passionate about development. They embrace the agile methodology in their collaborative environment, when it makes sense for a project.

This is a really good employer - plenty of work/life balance, very competitive benefits (see more below), and great people in their mid-sized IT area. They still develop their systems in-house - they aren't a packaged solution shop. Their CIO is a proponent of continued learning.

Technology stack includes:

Java, JSP, Servlet, Spring Framework, Groovy, PHP
J2EE
HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Oracle/SQL
Apache Tomcat and Eclipse
Angular
Responsive Design

The role of their IT area (like most) is to ensure that their customers - which includes the ones inside their four walls or out servicing their clientele - have the technology that they need to accomplish their tasks as quickly, logically, and efficiently as possible using leading-edge technology. They are global but are independently operating out of their office north of Des Moines with around 400 employees in the office. The company does not consider Information Technology to be merely an expense, instead, they influence the decisions and directions of the organization. Part of that reason is that the IT area is committed to learning the business while developing its signature tools in-house, allowing them to change direction quickly. Each of their development and systems staff (all full-time employees; no contractors) has the opportunity and is encouraged to learn the business while working directly with their customers in an Agile environment.

If you interview, the first meeting is with the technical team to having a discussion to see if it's a good mutual fit. That meeting will be online :c) They mastered being remote and at this time most of their teams are coming in about a day per week. They foresee continuing to have a hybrid work model moving forward for information technology.

As a senior developer they are open to discussing what you enjoy doing - if you like architecture then they are open to that as part of your responsibilities, they look for people who like to mentor junior developers. If you are a more seasoned developer then you will have the autonomy to create your own requirements and architect solutions that impact the business' bottom line. People who excel here enjoy learning new things about technology as a hobby. They like attending conferences and user groups to be around like minded developers.

They have EXCELLENT benefits! Options include: Medical (different plans/deductibles to choose from - PPO and Hight Deductible), dental and vision. supplemental medical, FSA, HSA (for high deductible plans), Wellness, EAP, Life and AD&D, Short-term disability, Long-term disability, LTD buy-up, and 401K. Additional benefits/options include: Employee Stock Purchase, Long-Term Care insurance, Pet Insurance, Investment in Education, Matching Charitable Gifts Program, and Adoption Expense Reimbursement.
