Job Description


Director of External Reporting


The Director of External Reporting is responsible for leading the compilation of financial statements, footnotes, managements discussion and analysis and all other components of the filings. They will lead and manage the preparation and review of all SEC reporting functions, including annual report, 10K, 10Q, earnings release, 8K, S-8 and XBRL tagging. This person will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of filing of all internal and external financial reporting, compliance with government and other regulators.



Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for the accounting operations of our client and provides timely, accurate, and meaningful information to aid management decisions.

  • Direct activities related to the recording of accounting transactions, timely preparation and validation of account reconciliations and timely resolution of reconciliations and exceptions.

  • Assist in providing technical expertise and leadership to the finance organization on the treatment of accounting issues, implementation of new accounting standards and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB regulations.

  • Monitoring and research of new GAAP and SEC pronouncements; evaluation of impact to the company; assisting in the implementation of new business, accounting, and financial reporting processes.

  • Manages a team of accountants with varying levels of experience.

  • Reviews internal and external reports, schedules, and statements.

  • Interprets accounting reports, makes recommendations to leadership based on the reports, and implements changes to improve reporting and/or accounting processes and procedures.

  • Responds to inquiries received from management, internal and external auditors, Sarbanes-Oxley audit group and others regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.

  • Ensures that all deliverables are in accordance with current accounting standards.

  • Reviews existing internal controls on a regular basis and develops new internal controls as necessary.

  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.

  • Coaches and mentors accounting staff, assigns work according to availability, skills and development needs, assesses performance, and provides feedback to direct reports.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Assist with the annual proxy preparation process and shareholders reports.

  • Work with external and internal auditors on requests for assistance.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects and responsibilities as needed.



Additional Qualifications:



  • US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - Evaluates US accounting standards to record transactions in compliance with requirements and company policies; assesses the accounting requirements and objectives to determine the implications on the business and communicate to stakeholders with varying financial knowledge.

  • Financial Reporting - Analyzes financial data by evaluating results and solutions to support business decisions; prepares and presents financial information by summarizing data to communicate results in compliance with regulations and stakeholder expectations; partners with stakeholders to drive financial performance that aligns to organizational goals and strategies.

  • Business Partnering - Collaborates with stakeholders and develops partnerships to drive performance that aligns to organizational goals and strategies; influences the organization by demonstrating knowledge of the business to provide guidance to support the decision-making process and guiding the business towards positive results and organizational alignment; evaluates business environment using measures to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.

  • Financial Analysis - Interprets financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities, and risks to provide insight to stakeholders regarding financial impact to drive business improvement; evaluates financial results against targets to communicate conclusions to all stakeholders; ensures integrity of financial data by investigating variances and determining corrective actions to resolve identified issues.

Education, Licenses, Certifications



  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or similar certification required.



Experience



  • Significant experience required, including managerial and budgetary experience.
