Job Description:

eBay is looking for an experienced Product Abuse researcher who will work to research and track the tactics, techniques, and procedures of Cyber-criminals on the eBay Marketplace to target and abuse eBays platform, services and Customers.
In this role you will research and investigate abuse in the Products and Flows used by eBays customers every day and develop expertise at the intersection of Off Platform originated Cybercrime and On Platform abuse.
To be successful in this role you will be a subject matter expert in Cybercrime. You will be able to build and maintain knowledge of relevant adversary and Product Abuse behaviour, disseminating timely and actionable information and data on the Abuse Case and able to communicate research and analysis findings to Product Managers, Engineering teams and Executives.
Additionally, they must have a proven ability to build relationships and influence across the organisation at all levels, as well as superior communication and presentation abilities.
Giving back to the community by supporting our customers, sellers and partners through outreach is strongly supported and central to our ethos. Expect to author white-papers, speak at conferences and meet with our community.

Key responsibilities and Requirements:
Identify Product Abuse trends by performing research and investigations using various data sources, the eBay Platform, Products and data flows.
Understand the Product Abuse trends on eBay and uncover critical signals of Product Abuse
Design instrumentation and telemetry monitors for signals of Product Abuse
Interact and collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Engineering and Risk teams to help remediate/mitigate abuse and improve existing detection processes of abuse
Drive anti-abuse research to inform and recommend Product and Engineering teams on strategies to ensure a safe product launch.
Contribute to the development of new products by exploring solutions to build Trust and Safety into the product design
Hands-on experience and skill with Python
Strong skills in data structures, relational and NOSQL and use of Jupyter notebooks
Builds strong relationships internally and externally; an active listener and clear communicator; seeks win-win outcomes

Basic Qualifications:
5 Years experience in Security, Abuse or Fraud research preferred
Experience with fraud and abuse in online platforms.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study.
Experience as a technical influencer with Product and Engineering teams
Excellent analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
