Who we are looking for

State Streets Corporate Functions Business Risk Management (CFBRM) function focuses on mitigating risk from within the first line of defense (FLOD) through control monitoring, enhancement, and execution of Assurance Events. The Enterprise Billing Risk Advisory team is part of CFBRM and is a critical component of Risk Management at State Street as it allows the self-identification of issues and improvement to the system of internal controls. Within the billing processes, the team performs a business control function focusing on assisting the Global Billing Operations (GBO) team adhere to regulatory requirements, design controls and assess the gap and remediation plans, report issues and incidents and follow-up on the remediation plan. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Global Billing Operations (GBO) and Business Unit teams in supporting the timely execution of required control activities.

It is expected that in this role the candidate will need to dig deep and learn end-to-end operational and billing processes.


What you will be responsible for


Manage the local team: review and provide feedback on team deliverables; recruit, retain and develop individuals

Partner with Finance Global Billing Organization and Business Unit Management to:

Assess the design of billing controls after system, process and/or org model changes

Understand and report State Streets billing risk exposure holistically

Provide direction and leadership in the end to end incidents and issues management processes for billing:

Serve as reviewer of incidents and issues

Liaise with stakeholders to drive sustainable remediation of issues

Carry out monitoring activities around incidents and issues

Perform incident and issue analytic processes with a focus on understanding root cause and impacted controls / control gaps; this may require facilitating meetings between GBO leads and the BU

Build strong relationships with other teams including Global Billing Operations, State Street Business Units, and the Finance Business Controls Team(s)

Develop expertise in Billing related controls, best practices and expectations to support the performance of design assessments

Maintain the highest level of personal integrity in all dealings thereby mitigating fraud risk to State Street and its customers

May be asked to participate in other activities within the team to support overall risk management objectives and goals

Education & Preferred Qualifications

The following are required:

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business or related field

At least 12 years of work experience with internal control methodology, audit and/or testing

Demonstrates ability to assess internal control design and operating effectiveness

Demonstrated leadership capabilities with solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all organizational tiers; A strong customer service mindset is a must

Strong business writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely present issues to applicable parties

Excellent critical thinking skills; ability to manage ambiguity; ask the right questions to obtain clear answers

Excellent attention to details and accuracy

Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage own time in order to meet deadlines

Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Customer focused with the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals across business units/lines

Team player

The following are strongly preferred:

Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor designation or its equivalent

Experience in the financial services sector
