Job Description



Who we are looking for

State Street has made significant progress in its goals to expand utilization of diverse suppliers within its supply chain and raise the profile of diverse suppliers within its business units. State Street is seeking a dynamic self-starter to continue setting the standards for excellence in this evolving area.


What you will be responsible for

The successful candidate will serve as Vice President, Supplier Diversity/ESG, drive operational excellence as it relates to Global Supplier Diversity and report directly to the Vice President Director, Supplier Diversity Team Lead.


Supplier Diversity


Lead the daily Supplier Diversity operators; responsible for Supplier Diversity reporting and analytics, primary liaison to diverse suppliers and coordinating internal and external communications.

Promote and support Supplier Diversity program and goals that connect with the corporate-wide diversity opportunities for key cross-functional considerations for qualified diverse businesses.

Drive key Supplier Diversity program development and activity, including driving improved performance metrics, Tier 1 spend reporting and benchmarking.

Partner across Supplier Diversity workstreams to deliver goals and objectives.


ESG Procurement


Lead the development and implementation of State Streets Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy in alignment with broader corporate goals.

Work closely with business stakeholders (category and sourcing leads) to embed State Streets ESG strategies into the procurement process to ensure appropriate purchasing decisions are made with consideration of these strategies across all spend categories.

Drive sustainable procurement business goals, plans and projects through management, metrics, compliance and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

Responsible for ESG program benchmarks, metrics and reporting.


External Development


Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with diverse supplier organizations identifying mutually beneficial opportunities to increase engagement, foster connections, and create opportunities for diverse suppliers to grow their business and support procurement goals.

Represent the business by participating on Supplier Diversity boards and committees such as WBENC, NMSDC, NVDBC, Disability: In, NGLCC, as well as represent State Street in external ESG related activities.

Partner across Supplier Diversity workstreams to deliver goals and objectives.

Develop relationships with diverse suppliers and promote networking relationships between suppliers and internal stakeholders to support State Streets procurement goals.


Analytics & Reporting:


The ideal candidate should have excellent project management skills, the ability to translate sustainability issues into goals and metrics, and the ability to generate support for programs amongst stakeholders.

Develop a strategy and road map to deliver proactive ESG and Supplier Diversity programs which promote achievement of world-class KPIs as well as influence culture and behaviors.

Effectively navigate internal data sources to consolidate, track and report Supplier Diversity spend and key ESG initiatives and related metrics.

Develop, maintain and distribute reports on established goals and metrics relative to Supplier Diversity and ESG scorecards, benchmarks, program initiatives and trends.

Review and interpret data sets & reports to determine potential opportunities to enhance Supplier Diversity and ESG initiatives; recommend appropriate courses of action.

Prepare and assist with compliance reporting for any agency/function that requires Supplier Diversity or ESG reporting.

Assist with Supplier Diversity awareness initiatives.


Supplier Diversity Advocacy:


Effectively coordinate with the procurement team and other internal team-members to identify capable diverse suppliers and support the RFP process and related procurement activities to advance diversity initiatives.

Interface with category teams and business units to stay abreast of planned sourcing opportunities.

Provide exceptional service to the business by offering timely solutions that ensure continuity of business operations.

Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness of State Streets Supplier Diversity program and opportunities (e.g., tradeshows, supplier meet-greet events, conferences, seminars, workshops, panels and presentations).

Plan and/or assist in the planning of outreach events intended to achieve State Streets Supplier Diversity program goals.

Support efforts to identify, develop and mentor diverse business enterprises to compete for procurement and sourcing opportunities with State Street.


Education & Preferred Qualifications


5+ years of experience in Supplier Diversity, vendor relations, sourcing, procurement, or a closely related business area.

BA/BS Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree.

Ability to independently manage projects and problem solve without taking significant guidance from management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrates leadership skills in working with partners and others who may not have a direct reporting line into the group.

Exhibit outstanding relationship building skills both internally and externally.

Ability to effectively manage tasks, establish priorities, make decisions, and follow issues through to resolution.

Dependability and professionalism.
