Industrial Engineer

SMV Recruiting is actively looking for an Industrial Engineer in Dayton, OH. Our client is opening a 200,000 sq. ft.+ warehouse and is looking for an experienced industrial engineer to oversee the design strategy and buildout of the new distribution center. The ideal candidate will have prior experience launching a new distribution center, 10+ years experience and a bachelors degree in industrial or systems engineering. Experience with product inventory, layout or slotting design, & automated equipment, coupled with Sigma Black Belt or Kaizens experience is strongly desired. Responsibilities:

• Extensive project management of new build design and layout including rack installation, spot measurements and deadlines


• Develop and implement optimization layout, setup and design strategies/plans


• Handle vendor management with new build and capital projects


• Utilize concepts associated with product slotting for SKUs/profiling to promote efficiency


• Analyze and identify warehouse processes for improvement opportunities to optimize space, accuracy, labor, quality and safety


• Conduct time studies and use data analytics/metrics to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, identify waste, recommend changes, reduce labor costs and track changes


• Responsible for managing large projects for capital investments


• Conduct Kaizen events


• Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis to prioritize projects and address inventory issues

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering (or related engineering degree)


• Minimum 10 years of overall experience


• 5+ years relevant work experience in warehouse/distribution center


• Experience leading distribution center layout, design, and slotting/profiling


• Familiarity with Lean methodology and Kaizens, Six Sigma Blackbelt preferred


• Knowledge of automated systems and equipment strongly desired


• Experience with SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and/or SAP strongly desired
