Job Description

Assistant Managing Clerk-NYC-This is a hybrid job

An Assistant Managing Clerk is a key member of the firms Litigation Department and works closely with the Managing Clerk and the firms attorneys and legal assistants. The Assistant Managing Clerk provides guidance and instruction to the firms legal staff concerning the management of legal papers, service of process and filing in both state and federal courts. A successful candidate will be highly organized and have strong written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
Monitor case status and retrieve court filings from electronic dockets in various courts in and outside of New York City
Communicate with court personnel related to the service, filing and retrieval of papers. Arrange and manage service of process with outside vendors
Distribute court documents and status updates to attorneys and legal assistants
Prepare documents for electronic filing in state and federal courts in compliance with each individual Courts specifications, including hyperlinking
File documents in the state and federal courts electronic filing systems.
Docket court filings and create calendar deadline reminders in Case Management Docketing System (CourtAlert Case Management)
Interpret Court rules and procedure
Provide guidance to attorneys and legal assistants on local, state, and federal filing procedures, including attorneys admissions and pro hac vice applications
Qualifications
Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills
Able to work independently, take initiative, and see projects to completion as well as work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Able to work effectively under time pressure
Able to establish effective working relationships with all levels of firm personnel
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat required with Excel knowledge a plus
Flexible schedule and willing to work in the office
Willing to work overtime as required
Preferred
Bachelors degree with 3-10 years of experience in a law firm or clerks office

Knowledge of the various court systems and their electronic filing programs
Basic knowledge of FRCP and CPLR and related local rules
Proficient in searching and retrieving information and documents from court-based platforms PACER, NYSCEF, etc.
Strong tech skills
