Backend Developer (m/f/d) @ TrueOcean

Our client TrueOcean supports blue economy companies in extracting information about the ocean and seafloor by making sensor data available in an organized way via SaaS solutions, analyzing it using algorithms and AI, and visualizing the results.

They prepare the technological progress for the ambitious expansion of renewable energies so that we can achieve the climate goals. In addition to the solutions for the blue economy, they conduct international collaborative research in AI projects and are partners in one of the first large consortia of the European GAIA-X initiative. They are financed by research grants, public funds from European, state and federal institutions as well as commercial partners and customers. Their young, English-speaking team from the fields of computer science, geography and physics, is international and interdisciplinary, and their infrastructure is based on Linux, Kubernetes, VMware, Hadoop, macOS, Windows and Office365.

What they do:

• We build cloud-based platforms and AI-powered tools that support organizations in the fields of environmental protection and maritime research.
• We want to make data toolsets and complex processing pipelines accessible to as many people as possible, enable researchers to share data and insights, and create synergies.
• We want to drive technological progress. We are conducting research in AI projects with various partners, and we are the driving force behind one of the first major consortiums in the European GAIA-X initiative.
• Our funding comes from research grants, public funding from European, federal and state level institutions, as well as commercial partners and customers.

Tasks

• You create services in Golang and work on a new backend API and create data processing pipelines
• You coordinate your work closely with your team of designers, frontend developers, DevOps engineers, business analysts, project managers
• As well as building new features, you will optimize and maintain existing parts of our applications existing products and infrastructure
• Testing and code reviews will be an integral part of your daily work
• Maintenance and improvement
• Run products in public clouds as well as isolated environments and private DCs
• Improve yourself and help your team

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Professional working experience with Golang, SQL databases and NodeJS and you see a Docker and Kubernetes environment as part of your daily routine.
• Experience with Bazel, that s a plus.
• You value the importance of communication with your team in the way of Discussions or clarification.
• Working with fixed deadlines and sometimes under time pressure motivates you.
• You are curious and happy to learn about new techniques and technologies when required.
• You are comfortable working in an international team where English is the primary language of written and spoken communication.
