Job Description:
Easily establishes and maintains professional and therapeutic rapport with employees
Displays proficiency in providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups, as appropriate.
Appropriately coordinates with safety manager to refer employees for specialized treatment/care when outside the scope of practice/competency of the therapist.
Provide comprehensive early intervention services to maximize performance and improve unit readiness.
Provide first-aid treatment and case management for musculoskeletal complaints which will include the use of ice, heat and wellness stretches, massage, tape techniques, knowledge of non-rigid bracing
Develop programs to optimize performance behaviors or mitigate injury risk.
Participate on an interdisciplinary team to coordinate the rehabilitation or wellness activities for individual or groups
Educate on the injury/disease process and its effect on function, joint protection, energy conservation, ergonomic needs, and work simplification.
Provides daily coverage of an active industrial job site for injury prevention and management. Has the responsibility to evaluate injuries and follow the guidelines set by the National Athletic Trainers Association for the well-being of the party involved.
Develop and maintain injury prevention programming to all various trades on the job site including but not limited to daily stretching protocols, and ergonomic assessments
Maintains competency by participation in continuing education, in services and other learning opportunities. Meets standards for all required reviews of competency
On the floor meeting people asking how they are doing and or feeling.
Address minor complaints of pain or discomfort prior an actual incident being reported.
Works with those employees who have filed incidents on minor musculoskeletal complaints.
Educates employees on things to do to reduce these complaints i.e. icing stretching range of motion and body mechanics.
When recommend if appropriate applies compression wraps, soft splints etc.
Also acts as a barometer as to when we might want to use internal modified duty and will make appropriate recommendations when employees do need to see and outside physician.
Provide orthopedic injury assessments
Lead ergonomic team
Perform comprehensive ergonomic job risk analyses, including task analysis, risk factor identification and quantification, posture analysis, and body mechanics analysis
Qualifications:
Education: Position Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of athletic training experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in related field
Board Certified Athletic training certification
State licensure certification
Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Knowledge of OSHA Recordability and worker's compensation a plus
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and employees
Previous ergonomic and/or occupational health experience is a plus
Experience:
2-5 years of clinical experience in industrial setting
2-5 years' experience working in ergonomics
