Fleet Tracking Officer

Job Overview:

The Fleet Tracking Officer is responsible for monitoring and managing the movement of the companys fleet of vehicles using tracking systems. This role ensures realtime tracking of vehicle locations routes fuel usage and driver performance to optimize operational efficiency. The Fleet Tracking Officer will work closely with the logistics and fleet management teams to ensure all vehicles are accounted for wellmaintained and used efficiently.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Fleet Monitoring:

• Use GPS and fleet tracking systems to monitor realtime vehicle locations routes and status.
  
• Ensure fleet tracking software is running smoothly and accurately reporting vehicle data.
  
• Identify any discrepancies in vehicle routes or unauthorized stops and report these to the relevant teams.
  

2. Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Generate daily weekly and monthly reports on vehicle performance including distance covered fuel consumption and maintenance needs.
  
• Analyze tracking data to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs such as fuel usage or maintenance frequency.
  
• Monitor driver behavior including speeding harsh braking and excessive idling and provide feedback to drivers and management.
  

• Act as the point of contact between drivers and the operations team to address any routing issues delays or emergencies.
  
• Provide constant updates to the operations team about fleet status traffic incidents or vehicle breakdowns.
  
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure timely servicing and repairs based on tracking data.
  

4. Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all fleet vehicles are compliant with transportation regulations and company policies.

Monitor safety protocols and assist in ensuring that vehicles are operated safely and within legal limits.

Investigate any accidents or incidents reported by tracking systems and provide feedback for improvements.

5. System Maintenance & Updates:

Perform routine checks on the fleet tracking system to ensure it is functioning correctly.

Work with IT or thirdparty providers to resolve any issues with the GPS tracking hardware or software.

Keep systems updated with new vehicles or drivers and ensure all data is correctly synced.

6. Fuel & Cost Management:

Track fuel usage and identify patterns of excessive fuel consumption or potential fuel theft.

Provide suggestions for optimizing fuel usage based on tracking data and route efficiency analysis.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree or diploma in Logistics Supply Chain Management Transport Management or a related field.
  
• Certification in fleet management systems is a plus.
  
• Minimum 23 years of experience in logistics fleet management or a related field.
  
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems telematics and fleet management software.
  

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong analytical skills to interpret tracking data and generate insights.
  
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with drivers managers and other stakeholders.
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word) and fleet tracking softwares.
  
• Good problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety protocols.
  
• Understanding of vehicle maintenance and operations is a plus.
  

Work Environment:

• This role requires regular interaction with the fleet team operations managers and drivers.
  
• Some travel may be required for onsite vehicle inspections or issue resolution.
