Hyper-V Platform Administrator

Position Description:

The Virtualization team is looking for a handson subject matter expert to provide support for development and operation activities across the enterprise. In this role you will provide highlevel technical support and sustaining engineering services to maximize uptime and reduce IT costs. Youll work with customers developers architects and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues in a timely manner. Other daytoday work includes but is not limited to; scheduling of deployments capacity management triage of issues with the application teams and vendors SME in specific products on the HyperV platform and platform upgrades/migrations.

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure availability reliability and performance of HyperV.

Coordinate escalate resolve and close any service request incident problem and change management issues assigned to Virtualization team.

Perform patching software implementations and upgrades to Microsoft technologies.

Partner and interact with technology vendors in support of the Microsoft infrastructure.

Worked varied schedules including oncall responsibilities through a team rotation.

Available via cellphone as an escalation point 24x7 for all Priority 1 or 2 related issues.

Participate in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy.

Automation of operational tasks. Identify and contribute to automation activities. Implement automation that will support regular operational activitiespatching health checks application operational tasks etc.

Provides technical expertise in the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms operating systems and applications across the enterprise.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science and/or 3 years in a technical role or equivalent.

3 Years Linux Windows Networking and/or Storage expert.

Handson experience in Docker Kubernetes Amazon AWS Cloud products.

Administration experience of HyperV.

Strong DevOps/CI/CD process architecture/engineering.

Familiarity with scripting SMB/SAN DNS. Proficient operating in a VMware based infrastructure.

Engineering and architecting enterprisegrade solutions for hardware and software issues.

Familiar with database middleware technologies.

Network familiarity as well as general application delivery and routing concepts.

Strong working knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana opensource monitoring solutions.

Experience with Microsoft Cluster technology.

Strong understanding of loadbalancing DNS and networking expertise.

Red Hat AWS Azure Google or IBM Cloud Certified Architect certification.

Build and development technologies like Maven and Jenkins.

Automation and management technologies like Azure DSC.

Version control technologies like Bitbucket and Git (GitHub or GitLab).

Monitoring (APM) technologies such as AppDynamics New Relic or Dynatrace. Solid understanding of Prometheus Grafana and Splunk.
