Staff Accountant

Our client a well established company in the food industry is seeking a Staff Accountant. This is an onsite position.

The individual in this role will be involved in a wide range of accounting and administrative functions including routine accounting functions daily production/inventory reporting and analysis bank reconciliations and other monthend tasks related to general ledger and financial reporting.

You should have proficiency in accurately recording financial transactions in journals or accounting software. This includes understanding debits and credits and how to properly categorize transactions. In addition you should possess knowledge of accounts payable processes and the ability to accurately post cash transactions to ensure timely updates to cash balances.

Day to day responsibilities include the following:

• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Prepare daily production reporting and record appropriate entries in ERP system
• Monitor inventory and variance accounts
• Track fixed assets and record monthly depreciation
• Assist with the monthend close and financial reporting process
• Reconcile general ledger accounts by preparing and maintaining appropriate schedules
• Collaborate with staff to monitor accounts payable and receivable
• Prepare weekly disbursements
• Monitory daily receipts and post to customer accounts
• Perform general bookkeeping and organize financial forms documents and receipts
• Prepare and file quarterly sales and use tax reports
• Analyze current procedures and recommend best practices to reduce expenses and increase revenue
• Cross train in other administrative positions to fill in as needed

Education/Additional Skills:

Associates degree in Accounting

Food Production industry experience is a plus
