The Preschool Chef will be a role model for young learners, who emphasizes the importance of nutritious meals, has a great attitude toward food and safe and sanitary habits, and prepares and serves meals that are attractive, appealing, and flavorful while complying with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Academy requirements.

We are seeking a preschool chef who can educate staff and families on the nutritional needs of children 0-5 and support age-appropriate feeding practices, and that will be responsible for meeting accredited nutrition standards and following the Academy policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties:

Meals/Food:

• Prepares nutritious and appealing meals and snacks that meet children's developmental and individual needs.
• Maintains food item inventory.

• Follows and adheres to safe food handling and sanitation standards according to program requirements and procedures.

• Relates in a positive and supportive manner, both verbally and physically, and is sensitive to the needs of children, parents, and co-workers.
• Uses quick, safe reactions and responses in dealing with children or situations that involve children.

• Follows safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Actively contributes toward promoting and sustaining a safe workplace/environment.

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Food Handlers Certification is a plus
