A leading group of hotels and resorts in Egypt is looking for a creative pastry chef to be responsible for crafting delicious desserts and confectionery, designing seasonal menus, and developing new recipes for the pastry section of the kitchen. You should be passionate about baking and be inspired to create masterpieces that go beyond our customersâ expectations.
To be successful in this role you must be well-versed in the culinary arts and adhere to strict standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Responsibilities of a Pastry Chef:
- Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business
- Prepare, clean and organize ingredients for use in the kitchen
- Come up with recipe ideas from scratch
- Plan the menu of desserts and pastry
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
- Oversee a team of junior pastry cooks and other staff members as necessary
- Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients
- Carry out administrative duties to maintain an efficient workspace
Requirements
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field
- 3 or more yearsâ experience working within the food industry as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Prior work experience in an All-Inclusive holiday destination will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process
- Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating cakes and other desserts
- Keen attention to detail and creativity
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Great interpersonal and leadership skills
- Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment.
