Job Description
AECOM is seeking a parttime Transportation Planning Assistant in Providence Rhode Island office. Were looking for individuals with transportation planning or community engagement backgrounds looking to develop public engagement and data gathering skills. We have parttime openings to support our work asneeded with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation at MBTA Commuter Rail Stations in Rhode Island. Individuals will be part of a fieldwork team that will count passengers with the possibility of additional assignments pending individuals interest in railroad or public transitrelated subjects.
This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Documenting and observing customer behavior and patterns as they use a specific ticket vending machine (TVM).
- Engaging with members of the public by asking them to fill out a TVM Survey.
- Supporting the survey design team with feedback on design effectiveness.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma
- Ability to be onsite at locations throughout Providence RI region at various times during the morning (as early as 5:30 AM) midday and evening (as late as 11:00 PM).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting public outreach especially in an inperson setting.
- Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing Bachelors Degree or higher in Communications Public Transportation Planning or a related field
- Knowledge of passenger rail service in Connecticut.
- Valid Drivers License preferred.
