Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Nursing Program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- ACLS is required for all areas where moderate sedation is performed.
- New Hires: Required certification must be obtained within one year of employment. If currently certified must maintain current certification. Certification or completion courses must meet the standards of Memorial Medical Center.

Position Summary:
- This position will float through MedSurg; Emergency Dept; and the ICU and other areas as directed.
- There are multiple openings for this position.
- Under the supervision of an RN performs basic patient care activities.
- Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN including monitoring vital signs possibly taking blood glucose measurements and recording intake and output.
- Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living including but not limited to bathing grooming eating and ambulation.
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked clean and orderly.
- Assists in patient admissions transfer and discharge procedures.
- Transports patients as directed in a safe manner utilizing appropriate means of transportation.
- Meets appropriate nutritional needs of patient by passing meal trays and snacks opening packages cartons positioning of items/patient and ensuring that the tray is completely set up for the patient. Feeds patients who are unable to feed themselves. Assists with picking up trays after use.
- Observes and reports the skin condition of every assigned patient. Patients at moderate or high risk are assessed every shift for skin changes and findings are reported to the patients nurse.
- Measures and records intake (NPO percent diet/snack fluids consumed by mouth etc. and output (foley drains etc.
- Supports family centered patient focused environment in all interactions with patients families visitors and volunteers.
- Collects labels and transports specimens.
- Performs point of care testing according to department policy.
- Provides clerical support to the unit.
- Insert and remove foley catheters utilizing sterile technique.
- Demonstrates understanding of properly collecting timed specimens and sequence to follow in the event the time sequence is interrupted.
