Job Summary
The Chief Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting of Our Client and its portfolio companies. This position requires a strategic mindset strong technical accounting skills and the ability to navigate the complexities of sustainable investing. The Chief Accountant will lead the accounting team ensure compliance with financial regulations and provide insights to support investment decisions and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving financial excellence in a missiondriven organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting and Compliance
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements in accordance with IFRS or GAAP.
Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements tax regulations and ESG disclosure standards relevant to the private equity industry and green transitioning sectors.
Implement and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency

Manage the daytoday accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and expense management.
Oversee the monthly quarterly and yearend closing processes ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
Continuously improve accounting processes and systems to streamline operations and accommodate the firms growth

- Portfolio Company Financial Management
Collaborate with portfolio companies finance teams to establish standardized reporting frameworks and KPIs aligned with Our Clients investment strategy and ESG objectives.
Monitor the financial performance of portfolio companies analyzing trends identifying risks and providing recommendations to the investment team.
Conduct financial due diligence on potential investments assessing the target companies accounting practices financial health and compliance with sustainability standards

- Taxation and Regulatory Compliance
Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns for Our Client and its portfolio companies ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
Stay abreast of changes in tax policies accounting standards and ESG reporting requirements that impact the private equity industry and green transitioning sectors.
Liaise with external tax advisors and regulatory authorities as needed

- Team Leadership and Collaboration
Train and mentor the accounting team fostering a culture of excellence continuous learning and professional growth.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including investment professionals legal counsel and operations staff to provide financial insights and support decisionmaking.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior management on financial matters risk management and compliance issues

Qualifications
5 years of progressive experience in accounting with at least 3 years in a leadership role; prior experience in private equity sustainable investing or green transitioning industries is highly desirable.
Familiarity with ESG accounting and disclosure frameworks is a plus
.
Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to analyze complex financial transactions and structures.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to build and motivate highperforming teams.
Proficient in financial accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools is an advantage
.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; a masters degree or professional certification (e.g. CPA ACCA) is preferred.
