Our team consists of licensed Professional Engineers (PE) certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) certified professional with Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) licensed General Building Contractor and other industry designations. We can provide entitlement development design procurement construction management project management expert witness and litigation support services on a variety of building types. Our experienced team have provided these services to successfully deliver various facilities for public school districts college districts universities commercial developers hospitality owners multinational CM/PM consultants and other valued clients.

Job Summary

This is a fulltime position with Los Angeles Unified School District. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least ten years of professional experience managing structural aspects of commercial public or educational facility construction projects. They will be responsible for providing technical direction to commissioned architects structural engineers and lowerlevel staff in the Structural Engineering Unit. The candidate will evaluate plans recommend structural solutions assist in developing engineering policies and provide guidance on structural systems and foundations. They must hold a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Structural Engineer in California and have a background in Structural Engineering with strong communication and management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations consult with and gives technical direction to commissioned architects or structural engineers
  • Provide technical direction to lowerlevel staff in the Structural Engineering Unit
  • Evaluate plans and specifications submitted by commissioned or consulting structural engineers
  • Provide peer review and guidance for structural engineering work in office and field
  • Prepare detailed structural reports and presentations
  • Support in the planning and maintenance of structural engineering guidelines
  • Assist in developing District structural engineering policies
  • Investigate and create reports for structural engineering systems structural components and installation to advise contractors commissioned architects and engineers and District Construction Inspectors
  • Assign structural testing materials and inspection to laboratories and review test reports
    Examine soil tests information and make appropriate recommendations regarding structural
    foundations and structures to be constructed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years fulltime paid professional experience in structural engineering work involving performance of increasingly complex duties
  • Five (5) years of the above experience shall have overseen the structural design of major buildings
  • Experience in seismic retrofit projects preferably with DSA or OSHPD

Required Education:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree in civil structural or architectural engineering.
  • A masters degree in the above majors is preferred
  • Preferred courses in management and/or supervision

Required License:

  • Valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Structural Engineering issued by the California State Board of Registration of Civil and Professional Engineers (must be kept valid during term of employment)
