Job Description
We are seeking a versatile and skilled Platform Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and implementation our platform and application services ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality security and performance.
This handson role requires familiarity with .NET environments Cloud Computing at scale (AWS GCP) CI/CD pipelines Service Design and Security.
You will sit across several crosscutting technical pods as the specialist resource.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development:
- Design and develop our cloud platform: Develop a secure stable and performant cloud platform capable for growing alongside us. We have a baseline cloud environment but you will be able to take it to greater slicker heights!
- Automation: We use several build pipelines but you will be empowered to refine replace or supplement these pipelines as our platform grows
- Implement features and enhancements: Collaborate with product managers and other developers to implement new features and improve existing ones. Participate in design discussions and provide input on technical feasibility and best practices.
- Ensure security by design: Integrate security best practices into the development process to ensure that software is secure from the ground up. Conduct regular reviews and security assessments to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
- Optimise for performance and scalability: Design and implement solutions that can dynamically scale to meet varying demands and ensure high performance and availability. Use profiling tools to identify performance bottlenecks and optimise code accordingly.

Quality Assurance:
- Automate testing processes: Use to automate functional regression and performance testing. Ensure that automated tests are integrated into the CI/CD pipeline and run regularly.
- Identify and resolve defects: Work closely with developers to identify document and resolve software defects. Use bug tracking tools to manage and prioritise issues.
Experience with CI/CD:
- Experience with configuration management solutions and IaC Tools
Agile Development:
- Participate in agile ceremonies: Engage in sprint planning daily standups and retrospectives to ensure effective and efficient development cycles. Collaborate with team members to refine requirements estimate tasks and plan sprints.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams: Work closely with product managers and other developers to deliver highquality software solutions. Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Continuously improve processes: Identify and implement improvements to development and testing processes to increase efficiency and quality. Stay uptodate with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Qualifications/ Education:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field
- AWS/Azure Certifications are welcomed but not essential
Experience:
- Proven experience as a senior Platform Engineer in a tech startup or fastpaced environment.
- Strong background in agile development methodologies.
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
- Knowledge of API (RESTful/Socket/GraphQL) microservice architecture flows and practices
- Experience with cloudnative platform patterns
- Experience working on missioncritical or SaaS services
- Experience working in or towards ISO 27001
Technical Skills:
- Thorough understanding of key AWS products like EC2 VPCs Lambda CloudFront RDS DLM and Backup Manager
- Some Proficiency in .NET and JavaScript
- Experience with SQL including schema design and optimisation
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools
- Familiarity with security tools and practices
- Experience with operating RESTful APIs and microservices.
- MVP is currently built using the following technologies and development languages; .NET 6 C# React MySQL Docker and Python.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
