Job Description

Broad Function and Purpose of Position: 

Operate a forklift and other equipment in the performance of tasks related to the receipt and shipment of raw materials operating supplies and finished product.  Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Warehouse Manager. Assume some leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.


Qualifications :

This is an afternoon schedule position 2nd Shift

 

Specific Responsibilities (Includes but not limited to):

  • Review shipping and receiving schedules and estimate worker requirements to complete assignments; assist the Manager with daytoday activities in the areas of shipping volume on time shipping availability etc.
  • Partner with Warehouse Manager to achieve OTS and Availability goals; make recommendations regarding workload schedule personnel assignments and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Pull finished product from inventory assemble orders and prepare for shipment in accordance with company policy and customer requests.
  • Assist Supervisor in creating standardized work practices for all processes existing and new.
  • Work with Warehouse Manager to ensure department personnel follow SOP company policies and best practices to achieve OTS and Availability goals.
  • Work with personnel to achieve OTS and Availability goals.
  • Identify opportunities to apply Lean Principles and ensure that established lean processes are followed.
  • May provide backup to Shipping or Factory Logistics; (Pick orders receive inbound material including finished product from other locations raw materials operating supplies and equipment.  Transfer product to appropriate locations and departments.
  • Use Barcode Scanner to achieve inventory accuracy; report inventory discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Lead Shipping Operators and temporary workers in special projects as required (e.g. relabeling rework etc.
  • Train and coach new and temporary employees in standard operating procedures; retrain existing employees on process changes.
  • Count and examine raw materials supplies finished product etc. to verify completeness against appropriate documents; checks for damaged materials; maintains records of shortages damages and other exceptions.
  • Match material against bills of lading; work with appropriate personnel to correct discrepancies.
  • Maintains work location in excellent condition to comply with company policies for safety and housekeeping; work with Manager to resolve housekeeping and safetyrelated issues.
  • Assumes leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Manager including prioritizing shift scheduling and problem solving.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Warehouse Manager.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Education:  High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Years Experience: 35 years experience leading in a distribution environment which must have included at least one year experience in forklift operation; ability to meet company training program requirements for certification for forklift license.
