The Porter is responsible for assisting the housekeeping team by ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of public areas, guest floors, and back-of-house spaces. This role includes handling linens, restocking supplies, and responding to guest requests to maintain high cleanliness and service standards.
Assist in maintaining cleanliness in public areas, corridors, and service areas.
Support room attendants by delivering linens, towels, and other supplies.
Remove dirty linens, trash, and used amenities from guest rooms and housekeeping carts.
Ensure the timely collection and delivery of guest laundry.
Assist in setting up or rearranging furniture when needed.
Replenish housekeeping trolleys with necessary supplies.
Restock linen closets and storage rooms with fresh linens, towels, and cleaning supplies.
Monitor and report any shortages of supplies to the housekeeping supervisor.
Respond to guest requests promptly and professionally, such as delivering extra pillows, towels, or toiletries.
Report any maintenance issues, broken equipment, or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
Ensure all cleaning and maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Assisting Guests
Luggage Handling: Greet guests as they arrive and assist with transporting their luggage to and from rooms or vehicles. Ensure that guests’ luggage is handled carefully and securely.
Room Assistance: Assist guests with entering rooms, providing them with any additional services they may require, such as carrying extra bags, delivering items like towels or amenities, or adjusting room settings.
Customer Support: Provide information about hotel facilities, amenities, and services, including dining options, activities, and event schedules.
Guest Requests: Respond to any requests from guests, such as providing directions, additional pillows or towels, or helping with transportation arrangements.
Maintenance of the Front Area
Lobby Organization: Ensure that the hotel lobby and entrance areas are clean, organized, and welcoming, including maintaining cleanliness of the doorways and entrance areas.
Parking Assistance: In some cases, porters may assist with parking, including parking guests' vehicles or providing valet services as part of their duties.
Safety and Security: Monitor the front areas for any safety hazards and help maintain a secure environment for guests, ensuring that security concerns are reported to management promptly.
Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role.
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items, including linens and cleaning equipment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Basic knowledge of housekeeping procedures and safety standards (preferred).
Handling Equipment
Handling and Storing Items: Help manage the safe storage of guests' belongings, including luggage storage, and ensuring that items are organized and properly logged in storage areas.
Transporting Items: Assist with moving large or heavy items, such as furniture, boxes, or supplies, within the facility as needed.
Delivery Services: Transport items to guest rooms or other parts of the property, including food, mail, or packages. Ensure items are delivered on time and in good condition.
Maintaining Cleanliness and Order
Daily Cleaning Tasks: Perform basic cleaning duties in public spaces, such as vacuuming the lobby, cleaning windows, or wiping down surfaces. Ensure a tidy and welcoming environment at all times.
Restocking Supplies: Assist in the restocking of supplies in common areas, including replenishing towels, brochures, or safety information in public spaces.
Trash Management: Assist in disposing of trash or maintaining cleanliness in back-of-house areas and around the property.
